Come on Gus get that thing done, It's wheelin time:bounce::bounce2::steer:

I know, I know, I keep saying I'm going to actually wheel this rig some time, I'm headed to the garage to work on it a bit right now.

Pulled the seats and tank, getting ready to flush and seal the tank, got some aftermarket seats, now I have to figure out how to mount them, I think I will tie them into the roll cage, Better do some 5 point harnesses, Amy has been asking to drive it lately,:bang:

Finished the door panels basically. Far from perfect but much, much better than what was there.

Also got the steering rack back together and bent up some brake lines.

Wrappin up a bunch of loose ends...literally. Might have a trade deal working for another 55

Kinda jumping ahead of myself. Tires first, lift later.
Looks much better with the 315's and the alloy rims.

Going to have a busy week coming up. On top of my recent transfer case issue and a potential Inchworm install with a friend, I have a full set of heavy duty vented rotors and Green Stuff brake pads sitting in the garage (my breaks are shot). I also have to install my All-Pro lower control arms and mess around with my pinion angle. Looks like I'm about 7-degrees out of plum. Then I have to rework my LCA skids as they won't bolt back on with the new LCA's. I'd like to bolt it on and then weld it on for strength.

I think I may have time, because it's going to take about three weeks or more to get my tcase. Looks like I'm renting a car, since this is my DD.

The tcase issue may F--- me for Fathers Day weekend at Kina's

measuring drive angles has nothing to do with plumb. On the 80s nothing is close to plumb and you need to know how to deal with that.

Best of luck with what's going on, that's a tall list for a weekend.

Ok.... Maybe several weekends.:hhmm:

I called a local radiator shop to see how much they charge to clean & seal a gas tank, they quoted $140, Was going to buy the stuff and do it myself but the kit was $80 plus ship, I think I will do my part to help save the environment and let the professionals do it, I dropped it off today, will see it in seven days, This gives me time to work on the custom seat brackets, and the fuel pump, and running new gas lines and,,,,

You are going to weld on a skid plate  that bolts on?

What happens if you need to remove it?

I was having problems smashing the trailer lights on the truck. They hung down below the frame and I kept bashing them. Also I didin't have any reverse lights. The solution was to take parts of an FJ40 rear crossmember and fab them to the rear crossmember of the FJ45. What do you guys think?
Bed tails.webp

I like that you're keeping LC lights and they look good, but, (you knew that was coming, right?) they will need some armour around the lenses. Some support or boxing behind the lights would be good too if you plan on hitting the rocks with it.
Tim has been through more of those lights on his '40 than I can count, over the years. YMMV

I think a few places sell the thick metal guards for the tail-lights. should save you some trouble down the road. Looks stock. I like it a lot!

I'd use two 4x4s, but that's just me.
That has nothing to do with my tail lights. Thats just the start of my new body lift. :hillbilly:

Yeah I know I was thinking the same thing. I might go the route Kiernan went with his 40. I have to get set of tails with the lenses before I fab something up.

New Shoes and face lift this week.
MT's, steelies, HFS bumper, and stock bezel color.

I would fix that bed first, it looks a little crooked. Better yet, junk it and bolt a wood one on, saves weight, and probly worth a ton in scrap anyhow.
