I decided that sleep is overrated today. got home from working a 12 hour overnight shift, and finally put my mind to getting some Cruiser work done. got the axle housing cleaned out of shavings and the neused rear diff installed. Then I had to call it quits for fear of hurting myself by doing something stupid.

Funny how that can happen when you are over tired. Glad to hear you made some progress on the 25!

Well today's wrenching involved lots of your NE salt, a few broken bolts, a few choice words, and ended with a trip to the body shop. I recently acquired a Yankee Toy members ride and have been learning to love that stuff called rust. The one bolt that would spin, turns out was not attached to any metal on the other end.....doh. Hopefully she will return w/ a repair vs a cover up this time.

the piggy continues to stump me, rebuilt the 2F, it will fire, but it will not go??? I think the issue is that i desmogged based off a members vac. advance dizzy and its not working w/ my retard of a dizzy :D
---still got the exhaust and valve adjust and hope to be back on the road soon

New sandblast cabinet gloves arrived last night, a trip to HF for some aluminum oxide blast media, and my blast cabinet is finally alive again. Started blasting right away. Did the rear diff cover and the front of one rim just to test it all out. Works great. Time to get some primer and paint!!

Hey Mad Jack, it's probably the starter. As I found out there is more to it than the solenoid contacts and a reman from Toyota fixed it.

Good luck

Rick

I'll be doing the reman starter very shortly as the "delay" starting began again the other day after almost a month of flawless starting. Its not as bad as it was, but its definitely back. Thanks for the heads up!

FINALLY got the correct parking brake pads for the 55. No wonder it wouldn't go back together. As much as people bitch about SOR, their stuff always fits. Had the whole thing done and back together in 30 mins. It was apart for almost 2 months

Then I went to Randy's to help Mark fix the spring hanger on his red, soft-top 40. I literally held the flashlight the whole time. I am skilled.

Fixed a broken rear shackle perch on the 40 with John and Randy. Well.. John held the light.. i loosened a few bolts.. and Randy did the hard stuff.. :hillbilly:. Fairly painless proceedure and got to spend some quality CRUISER time with some good peoples!

I noticed it was broken the other day.. coulda got ugly if it broke all the way. Got a replacement from Ted's next day as they are discontinued from Toyota.. product looks good and welded for extra strength. Randy has a few pics of the procedure he may be able to share.. here's a pic from before.

battery saga part 12.... after just letting it sit it in the garage seemed to be holding most of it's charge, trickled it back to full and will set it up in the truck with my new solar battery maintainer and see if that does it.

Nice pics.

Mark, I notice that there were bolts there instead of the rivets. Had you replaced that piece before?

Mark, Randy,

I would suggest welding the tail end of the perch to the rear cross member to prevent that from happening again. I think they did that from the factory, if memory serves me correctly.

Jr.

Jason..

Yeah i replaced them both with brand new OEM perches back in 2002 when i restored the rig.. but i guess salty New England winters have paid their toll.

Junior that is a really good idea.. we should indeed do that.. (along with putting in the bolt that appears missing in Randy's final pic.. heheh)

Spent the weekend installing the wiring harness, air compressor and switches for my ARB F/R lockers. I've got everything ready to go. I just have to install the air lines before I meet up with LandTank in a few weeks for the install of the lockers and new 4.88 gears.

Installed a new steering damper as the OME one on there was rusted up badly.

Then I made a door panel from scratch. Used matte finish pleather from the fabric store. Used 1/8th inch luan which is too thin for staples which kinda sucks. Might switch to 1/4 luan or some other material. For the first panel it came out well. Forgot to pop holes thru for the armrest but I have to take it off when I paint anyway so no worries.

Prolly cost me about $7 to make the panel.

Thank you all for paying for my unemployment which makes this all possible!

use glue instead of staples, can buy it in a spray can. If you really want to pimp it , glue 1/8 to 1/4 foam to the luan
