I like the factory tint of the rear windows and was thinking of doing the same up front.

Maybe doing all the windows a lot darker.

Is it too gangsta? If I lived in AZ or something I could justify, but I do live in Brooklyn...

Dunno about Brooklyn, but tint in Houston is a must because it's so damn hot. I doubt with your mods your truck would look gangsta w/ tint.

You should photoshop it and see how it looks!

macneill, there is pretty much no tint that you can match to the back windows. It has a very mirrored appearance to it and has that bronze color. I had 35% tint that was brown colored on the front for a while but didnt provide for much privacy.

Now I have 5% tint on the front two and added 17% to all the other rear windows which brought it down to 5% also. My front windshield is 70%. I like the look however when i look at it with the front windows and the rear windows not matching i get a little sad. But I look on the bright side, nobody can see inside really, even during the day!

If you want, i can refer you to the shop i had mine done in the bronx/yonkers area. Maybe he can work a deal because your a referal.

So, 70% front windshield, 5% all around on all the other 9 windows. Enjoy

Oh and if you dont have a rear camera, wouldnt suggest this if you back up a lot, its so hard to see at night. When I got a rear camera installed i finally pulled the trigger on the tint.

My rule of thumb for window tinting is as follows:

If you are only going to keep the truck for a few years , 5 or less, then tint away. But if this is going to be a long term ownership I would never tint.

The tint will scratch and chip and no matter what they say and what quality you use it will change color over time getting that purple look. So for me it's best to go with factory tint for the long haul or no tint at all.

Good advice. They also peel around the top edges (from windows going up & down) after a while, even on the good jobs. See it at the auction all the time.

Well if you your truck tinted from a guy who will back his job 100% you dont have to worry about longterm problems. Im getting my tint replaced on the back window because it got cut with something sharp.

Here is another picture from yesterday that ill post for you too.
I didnt take the pictures so sorry about the angled shots.

Thanks. I keep my trucks for at least 10 years.

My 60 has a tint made by Formula One that the PO installed. It looks great and he did a great job putting it on. Not sure how long it's been on, but it looks brand new still.

Hmmm... I don't really want mismatching windows. Guess I'll have to think about it.

Thanks for the info.

Those pics look like there from a CL Meet!

thats because they are!

Macneill, if you ever decide to put the black windows in that the newer 100s have, and it works please tell me, i want the black windows.

I didnt want miss matching windows but i wanted some privacy from others. Ive only gotten a ticket once, by TBTA going into the mid-town tunnel. They were doing a bomb check on trucks and felt like stopping me too.

I prefer the OEM - the windows are solar windows. I passed on a number of vehicles that had the window tint added. The added tint reduces visibility to the outside and I consider it a possible safety hazard.
