There are definitely some threads that offer some feedback on these, but given that they seem to be coming down on price, an growing in popularity, I thought I would throw some fresh questions out there for those with experience to chime in on...

1. what is the best way to run cables for one mounted to a roof rack (IE: Front Runner)

2. is there a noticeable difference between maybe a 20", and 40"? What's the sweet spot, or would you have purchased differently?

3. Any special considerations for wiring (IE relays, high amp switches, mil-aero connectors, etc)

4. Anyone gone the budget/Amazon.com (IE Tuff Led Lights) route and regret it?

I hate wiring/electrical work, but would love to see one on my rig!

Subscribed. I got front runner as well and do have the same questions

Especially interested in question #1 and #2!

How would one exactly route the wiring from auxiliary battery through to the outside without compromising moisture etc...?! Thanks

And subscribed my self. I want to be able to blaze up the night! And I also hate electrical stuff!

Here are a few pics of the wire run to the light on my truck. I'm currently using a Rigid 20" SR bar on my Front Runner rack. I mounted it directly to the of the rack using the provided brackets. I haven't tried, but envy the longer dual row bars, however this one provides more than enough light for what I need.

I'm not sure this is the "best" way to run wires, but seems to work.

From under the hood, I tucked the wire under the molding, then ran it through some flex tubing. I put some double backed tape underneath to hold everything in place.

Continued with the flex tubing up along the roof line...although it sometimes (like now) requires a little more tuck to stay umm, tucked.

Ran the wiring up the foot of the rack, then along the inside of the rails.

Cable ties hold the wires, including the connector in place. Had to loosen the Front Runner wind deflector to get a cable tie through at the top. If you had a longer light bar, this wouldn't be an issue.

You are so close to the Ouray trip you might want to wait and do your shopping/decision making out there. I and several others will be there with light bars. I'll have one of Nicks mounted for you to check out but I believe he's planning on being there as well.

Thanks guys! Anyone else?

I'm thinking of running a 20" bar as a spotlight in the center, and two peripheral foods on the corners. Goal is to have a nice long straight shot ahead, and good side to side vision (mainly for critters on open roads) without the reflection on the hood.

One consistent trend I've read about is the lack of periphery with a single bar.

I just installed a 32" with the center 3rd being a spot and the exterior 3rds being flood pattern. Throws PLENTY of light not sure you would need much more.

If I tie in a 32" bar to the factory fog lights plugs (fog lights were removed with the ARB bumper install), would I need to use a relay harness? I'm not sure how many amps the factory fogs drew vs how many amps the 32" led bar needs.

The 32" pulls 13amps. The OEM fog light wiring won't be able to power it. I would use a relay. I'll send you an email in a bit regarding this. I will try the OEM high beam harness tonight. Worst case I blow the fuse.

It's mounted on my front bumper, not a fan of high lights.
