A few people at the meeting said to check out the 80 at the toyota dealership in Easley. This is what I found out. Its actually a LX450, with diff. lockers. The web page says that its a V8, is that right? I didn't think that they produced a V8 untill the 100 series/LX470 series. I know, its a Lexus but come on! It has diff. Lockers and if it has a V8, I couldn't live with myself if I passed this vechicle . So I'm going to take it for a test drive tomorrow morning. Now from what I have read, the LX450 and the FZJ-80 are pretty much the same Vechicle. So if anyone has any different info, hit me up and let me know before I take a dive into my wallet.
Matt

Here is a link to check out the Vechicle info
http://toyotaofeasley.com/Default.aspx?page=preownedinventory&InventoryId=1766705

paste that into your browser, go to pre-owned car inventory, go to page 7 and its the last listing on that page

poking my head in your club corner...
Unless the straight six was replaced by a V8, the LX 450 you're looking at has the same 4.5L I-6 that the Toyota LC has. All mechanicals are the same.

Check out some of the newbie lists on www.sleeoffroad.com and search some posts on the 80s forum regarding the diffs between LCs and LXs. I had a 94 LC and now (we) have 2 LXs. No major differences.

...unless anyone has any questions...I'll step back out of your club corner.

If it ....

floats your boat, go for it! Club Prez, Travis loves
his LX . Passing by this truck it looked sweet
from the road. I like black. Informationjunky
drove his LX450 to the meeting sporting it's
new ARB front end. He has lockers too.
So that's at least 2 in the club already. :)
Don't let labels hold you back. We welcome
the Lexus to our fold.
If it's a good truck and a good price.....jump.
Hehe...easy to say when it ain't my wallet.

I stopped and looked at it on the way in, IMHO it was too high priced (but I'm a tightwad) for condition. Like doug said, no v8 and ook at the FAQ's in the 80's section for differances. Suspinsion little softer (not really noticible unless you have driven a 80 alot, much better sounding stereo but you loose cup holder. If you do deside, make sure they give you 2 sets of keys and remotes (not cheep)

Thanks, for stopping and looking at it. I'm now waiting for approval for a :flipoff2: loan. I've already hacked at the price, so i won't be paying for what they orginally asked, which is way outta my league. Hopefully, i'll be running with be big dogs soon.

No luck Lexus

Well, it looks like the lexus idea is out. I can't get a loan  because I don't make enough money as a student. :flipoff2: . Ah well, so I will wait for my 80 or LX to come along. However, here is this 62 down in Mt. Pleasant, that I could probably spring with cash. Tell me what you guys think. The seller says that it needs work on the trans, but that to me is no big deal. For those guys that drive a 62, what is it like as a DD? I don't know to much about the 60/62, because I have done nothing but study up on the 80/LX. So I guess this is the point where I will be burning the midnight oil, reading all the 60/62 forums and eatting all the info my mind will allow. If I can find the proper link, I'll post it up later. Have a good one fellas,

Matt

there was a 96 LX450 just relisted on EBay for $8k....champagne, locked, leather, etc. Was $9750, zero bidders. In SC too I think....

Well 62's for a DD......... it all depends on what you are used to. I have a 77 FJ40 that I drove for a a year and a half then bought a nice 88 FJ62. The 62 is a world of difference from the 40, I love it as my daily drive, its big and slow just perfect for cruising around the campus here at Clemson.

The only down side is the 62 is still not the best highway vehicle it doesn't like cruising at high speeds just seems to have to work to hard. But if you are a college kid and not like these old farts that want all those creature comforts of new vehicles in their cruiser, you will love it. It does come with power locks and windows, and an automatic tranny..............all firsts for US cruisers.

The best thing you can do is test drive oneand see how it feels, and you are more than welcome to come drive my 62 around and see if you like it, it not stock, but it is in really good shape and would give you a good feel for what to expect.

Best of Luck
JP

Contact David (Gundy). His 60 is for sale. It's a really nice, clean ride. We had to borrow it when we got towed out of the Muster Grounds and it rides great!

Some of us old farts have had a 60 for a daily driver before some of you were driving! :flipoff2: It's just a little hard murging on the interstate. IMHO if you want a 80, the FJ80's with the 3FE's are pretty cheep and easier to lift than a 62.

Wtf

Fellas

I can't get in touch with this guy down in charleston. I've let five messages saying that I'm interested in his 62. I'm starting to get a little heated. Nothing seems to come together around here. WTF is going on? It says that he needs to sell, but I haven't recieved any return calls, hell I even had my roommate call the guy. Well anyway here is a picture and all the info that i could not link, oh, its a blue

Daily driver 1989 Toyota FJ62 Landcruiser. Less than 5000 miles on completely rebuilt motor, brakes, brake booster, off-road tires, radiator, seat covers and much more. No rust of any significance. Everything in great shape except transmission, which was replaced in 2003, but now needs additional work. Transmission will not shift out of first gear. Park, neutral and reverse work fine. With this repair this Cruiser will once again be a great beach, hunting, fishing vehicle or daily driver. Wife wants it out of the driveway, so no reasonable offer will be refused. For more information, please call Gray at (843) 224-2657 or email gtaylor@buistbyars.com Vehicle is located in Mt. Pleasant, SC

Thats a good lookin 62. There might be paintwork on the pass. front door, or it might just be a shadow. I have no room to talk though, my pass. quarter panel is three shades of bronze.

FWIW: I paid $2500 my truck which also had a bad tranny. The motor wasnt rebuilt but ran fine. The tranny may be something as easy as the throttle kickdown cable.
