Looking for one of the completed TLC FJ 60/62 V8 conversions. Fantasy would be to find one of their "142" conversions for sale. Located in Socal. Willing to pay the price for the right rig.
Thanks !!

You may want to reach out to TLC directly, as they may have their ear to the ground on this type of rig since they built them.

None of us have that kind of money, LOL

Thanks !!!..lol Reached out to them directly but they didn't know about anything at this time. They have a 2 year witing list as well for a build.

You could also reach out to Georg at Valley Hybrids up in Stockton. He's the best at these conversions, and he might know of some LCs looking for a new home. G'luck

Well, luckily, my '90 FJ62 has been pretty good. I do the occasional oil+filter change. I did take it to Yotamasters in Corona several years ago when I first got it. But, I get the impression they do more manual transmissions than auto. But they did good work on my rig. Went up to 4.88
I think I heard of a guy in Fullerton who works on land cruisers, or read it on Yelp? But never used him yet.

If you find a good local OC guy that knows these older LCs.. please let me know too!

Thanks...check out the 62 v8 they have and let me know your thoughts?

Since you're in So Cal, like me.. before you make this jump to a V8 conversion, I think you need to consider how you are going to get it smogged here in commie-Cali. I'm not sure, I've read differing opinions ranging from "no problemo" to "no-go, cuz this V8 engine is for a heavier class vehicle" or some legal mumbojumbo like that. So.. unless someone here knows the definitive rule for smogging these V8 conversion land cruisers in CA, or you know-a-guy who can smog this kind of a vehicle.. it's just something to consider before you drop a big chunk of change on this truck.

But, those pics do look sweeeeet. Where's the price??

The very pricey alternative to be totally California legit, would be to buy a brand new crate Chevy LS3 6.2L E-Rod motor, which is CA-CARB compliant, and comes with a certificate stating so. But, that's like an $8300 engine,.. before the transmission and adapter kit, installation, etc..

Very good question...and already asked about smogging it. It is an issue on my 92 911 that we desmogged last year and so I need to find a "friendly" smog guy. I like the ls3 in there if properly geared and braked.
