ya, it's a decent deal, but I'm pretty sure those rims won't fit a solid axle, so that kinda sours it a bit. Could be wrong.

I'm tired of dealing with s***ty old rims that are bent or barely clear tre's. what I have right now are junk, so I'm hoping to finds a good set of rims with tires at some point.

I'm thinking of getting away from 15's and the "b-flats" for my next set....not to mention not being ready for the snowball effect that going up a tire size causes...

Since I made the jump to 17", I believe it to be a mistake. Advice would be to go to 16". Super big selection of used Toyota rims with
no concerns of clearance issues. For future, I think 16" has enough tire selection to fit any requirements. I got all hung up on
the 285/70R17 Toyo MT's. I still am hung up on Toyo's, but not 17" now. FWIW

Yeah I've had 16's on pretty much every cruiser I've owned since the 90's, so that's what I'm aiming for.
.

Thats why I didn't go for them. In fact, 15" rims generally don't even clear the brakes on the LJ78 unless one grinds the calipers down. Had the tires been 16's I would probably have been on it (although I'm not really a fan of the BFG A/Ts). Anyhow, just going to burn through the little tires I bought a few years ago (235/85R16), and replace them with 255/85R16 when the time comes. Saving pennies till then.

Yeah, I like 255's too.

For now , despite my shyte rims, my tires are pretty much new, so it's not much of a panic. Dude in van has a set of the stock 70 series 16's or sale. They're pretty nice, but...$$.

But yeah, for now, I can wait. Other things are more important for now.

My rig came with 16's and I have to admit that it wasn't as easy to find used 16's as was proposed by the PO. He went to a 16" because "every truck comes with 16's and yuppies change tires like underwear so they're easy to find..." Maybe on the Mainland? I chose to purchase new and wanted to get something that would be good year round with the mountain snowflake rating and such. General Grabber AT2's is where I settled and still I had to go with a 315/75/16 which was the closest to a 35x12.5 they had. I do like them, but honestly haven't put them to the test yet.

Dad swiped up that old crust bucket today. Got some great salvageable parts with it, and the odo reads 15k, although that could be 115k or 315k... but everything under and inside is surprisingly decent.

Hey that doesn't look so bad... Almost mint compared to my 45... I'll show it to you sometime... Wait, there's nothing left of it other than my rear 45 axle, and the front axle sitting out in the garage.:D

Tub is still up for grabs. Some cutting had been done by the previous owner, who put jeep lights in it (gross). 3/4 tub that ends right at the seam of door post, so no floorboards. It's in great shape though! Dad and Vern (wombat) might order a few from aqualu sometime in the future together, to save shipping costs, so if anyone else needs one we could do a bulk order.

Did anyone ever find out where the 2 lvs went?? I had a couple guys on the island even go to the address on th listing........
Miss my lv..... :(
