actually since its an 89 bj70, it could be a 3B-II replaced with a 3B, and the bj70 did not have an FRP top available, just soft top or non-removable tin top.

wondered if it was the rusty white one from the island resprayed, but maybe a different rusty 70. won't find many like it though so if you're into a removable top SWB 70...

would that body fit on my hdj chassis? too narrow?

Had a look at the HJ47 since its not too far from home...

Its actually not that bad for rust... the truck is from Texas (although its obviously not a US truck)... the grill and rear corners (just starting to bubble through) seem to have the most rust... firewall has some cosmetic rust... the side window frames are also swollen with rust... the floor and frame seem to be in decent shape... apparently it runs, although they couldn't get it going while I was there...

The Coles notes version from the two sales people that I spoke to, is that the truck has never been registered in BC. It was originally imported by someone in Prince George from Texas (apparently for $17K) about 2 yrs ago...the owner is having health issues and consigned it to Brentwood Motors. Even thought it has a clear ownership chain, the salesman was unclear as to how it would be transferred since it requires the usual inspections to get a registration for it in the first place... One of the salesmen stated that they've turned down an offer of $7.5K

Seems a little messy on the registration side... but a google search confirms that these things are going for a lot more than what they're asking...

Had a chance for a quick drive by since I was close but couldn't talk to the sales guys much. The body actually looks very good. Inside by the rockers at the front door the floor is just starting to bubble up a little. The firewall where the steering column and brake master are is starting to bubble up and will need to be sanded/painted. The front cowl not worth repairing, should be replaced as the entire bottom lip of it is done. the fenders are mint, the floor overall is mint, the sides are very good, the rockers are solid. The back needs the corner pieces around the bottom of the door patched and redone. Around a couple windows in the back there is rust creping up but it's minor and most should be able to repair just with sanding. There is one place where the pillar right behind the driver needs to get worked on. The bottom 1.5" needs to get replaced as it's rusted through. The other side looks like it just needs a bit of sanding. The window frames of the sliding windows in the back (so not the body but the separate window frames) need to be replaced as they are rotted a bit. All of the seals on all of the doors need to be replaced, you can fit your finger through them with the door closed. There is some fresh water gathering on the floor up front because of that. The roof is solid, the wheel wells are solid the frame is in great condition with minor surface rust here and there. The engine (didn't fire up as I had no time) has surface rust on it but the oil is black and doesn't look too bad. It has an AC pump but looks like not the factory one since it doesn't sit well in the factory AC bracket and doesn't line up to the pulleys. Everything else looks like it belongs. Couple wiring splices in there and one of the owners did some kind of weird ignition kill thing to it that can go away. The doors up front are starting to need some attention at the bottom but all pretty much surface so far.
The biggest worry I would have is the registration. The one guy there told me they are selling it as parts only because it has not been registered in BC and they are selling it for someone else so they don't want to bother. Like U Cruiser mentioned, the previous owner bought it and put it in storage. Sounds fishy. Since it has US Texas plates on it, it all depends on how it was brought into BC, if it was brought in as a parts only truck then have fun registering it. Need to deal with the border guys for that. Of course, it could also have been stolen out of the US as a worst case scenario. Or it might be as easy as slap a battery in it and take it to Crappy tire for a regi inspection and drive it home.

Don't think it would cross the border whole as a parts vehicle if it was stolen. You still have to provide VINs and paperwork. One could probably do a quick search of the VINs (both frame and body) to ensure nothing is fishy about it.

If the VIN search is ok you'd need to make sure the paper work is all in order. Was the vehicle officially imported or did someone from Texas just drive it up here? If it was just driven across the border and not officially imported you would probably never be able to get it on the road. The last owner from the US (or maybe Prince George) would need to drive the vehicle back across the border and then you would have to drive it from the US into Canada and have all the correct paper work done.

With some research it might be a good buy, but it might also be a PITA or only good for parts. I watched an M Coupe sit and rot for about 4 years at a shop because of a situation where the car was not properly imported.

Appear to be original back doors. Now, which side the spare tire carrier should be on is up for debate:

Maybe has to do with which side the steering wheel is on from the factory?
