Does anyone have any experience with the TJM knockoff snorkels? It seems they're listed as diesel only, but if you look at the safari knockoffs, they say they fit petrol and diesel; which leads me to believe the fitment is the same between the two engines.

Would be interesting to know if we have a safari and TJM knockoff option.

Heck, I'd be interested if we had a good US-option for a TJM! I've had not luck finding one for sale in stock in the US- anyone know of any?

As for diesel vs petrol - as long as you get a hole into the engine bay the ducting inside can be sourced pretty easy so I wouldn't hesitate, and if I don't find a TJM stateside in the next week will be buying this & report back. Great find @Ramathorn15!

looks like there's a couple now, here it is for $87

Does this one interfere with the antenna on the right fender?

Any word on this, @cruzerDave ?
been buried under work, life, and the KISS Drawers so no, have not yet jumped. As soon as I can catch my breath it is still my intention to try though - thinking of creating a mold of the fender and doing a test fit against the snorkel *before* I cut a hole that may not result in a good fitting part...

Smart.

I don't believe it extends far enough forward on the fender to interfere with the antenna. That's all speculation though. Someone needs to buy one and give it a whirl!

I have been eyeing these for a few weeks already and had the same concern about the "diesel" on the add title. I'm assuming it IS the same as TJM airtec but put up for sale by folks who have no clue/and/or don't want to spend the time to find out for sure what it will fit! Plus, and this is a big plus, take another look at the picture. It's ripped right from TJMs advertisement! They blurred the logo on the snorkel but left the one on the trucks door! Lazy bastards!
I'm this close from ordering one but was also in the same boat with those not wanting to waste any $ with wrong part. I do not like the other style that only goes half way up the pillar!

As for the antenna, as far as I understand you have to remove the antenna from inside the fender for good! It is so with the airtec .

Not sure all of these on ebay are the same, but the one I was going to buy from (no particular reason) answered my question whether there was any name or logo on the side:

That's about like I expected... ;)

Pulled the trigger, eta Oct 11, just $87 and free shipping. :hmm:

Now I remember why I went with this seller, it says it is in Ohio so in theory a US company/individual I can go after if it proves garbage or I have problems with fit.

I will, or course, document the heck out of this so stay tuned;)

Not trying to come out as jackass/rude but that's kind of an irrelevant question isn't it?!? I mean, we already know it's a knock off so...
A more appropriate one would be wether or not is made for diesel only or gas as well! Also the removal of antenna, necessity for pre cleaner and so on. But again, it really doesn't look like they would've answered any of those to our likings anyways!

@Get outside - after more than 6 months on the ground in China over the last couple years I've learned to start with easy questions first, then move on to harder ones, both to build relationships and evaluate communication skills. The likelihood of a customer service person knowing what the application was would be very low, whereas there's a chance they could look at it on a shelf, provide an answer, and be successful - build relationship... then they are more likely to spend energy running down tougher answers for you - but that's just my experience, ymmv.

And despite it being listed in the USA the price, photos, and verbiage in the ad all scream SE Asia, hence my approach. I'll be watching the shipping origin to confirm OH and report back.

Oh, and for my own education, how does the gas/diesel question change how the snorkel enters the engine bay? From the TJM website it looks like they sell one model and it is for both 'petrol and diesel' as well:

Is there something I should be preparing for in the install, like purchasing more hose?

I look forward to see what your results are. If you have to remove the antenna, I might be out.
I have different antenna plans so wasn't a thought for me - but we shall see!

Well - so much for 'no logo on it':

Package came in about 8 biz days and is a little battered but everything seems to have survived.

I am on the fence about sending it back. Does anyone know any good techniques to texture the surface if I grind off the stupid 'power ful' letters? Material is the usual ABS-like stuff.

Could just grind it down, body filler, and paint match if your into that look.

@DirtDawg I'm good for the grind down, color is solid so it will stay black, but I am hoping someone clever has an idea how to give it a texture that at least sorta matches the rest of it, or if not suggestions for a sticker/thingy/treatment that covers the fact that I mauled it. If buying an authentic TLM was a good option I wouldn't hesitate to send it back and get a real one, but at the moment it is this or the protruding-in-front style, and I really like this sleek design.

Wow that sucks! Sorry man, how about sand it even with 100 grit, scuff the whole thing with 220 and coat it with either plasti dip or spray can undercoat? Should be fine! Important thing is the fitting.

Before you grind it down I would look inside to make sure the lettering was not molded from the inside as it was formed on the outside. If that is the case then I would just build up the outside versus grinding.
