TJM Dual Battery Tray

One of the other projects this past weekend was the installing the TJM battery tray. (Bought in December, finally arrived at the end of March)

Fairly easy and straight forward. Still waiting on some other parts to come in to wire both batteries up, but the issue I am having is with the tray. Or at least the power steering reservoir mount on the tray. This isn't going to work in the long run.

Vehicle is a 2014 LC.

Checked it this morning to snap the pics and the reservoir had already popped off the mounting bracket. And I had pushed the little tab in to hold it in place.

The tolerances of everything around the reservoir when in place is tight. A lot of rubbing.

Going to need to fab something up for do something different. Also it might be that the tab broke off that holds the reservoir down on the bracket.

Mine went on fine, just had to bend the metal a touch so it wont let the pressure pop the white plastic out of the metal cradle. Mines been in there for over a year and going strong! Also, I mounted my heat sink on the firewall. I've got a post on it somewhere...

I think I saw your posts. Was your dipstick that close to the reservoir? All the hose coming off the reservoir are right against all the hose below them now. Before with the OEM location of the reservoir, there was space around all the hose. Now they all contact.

Did the TJM tray work out for you? I have heard that this tray is designed for 200s with no rear air. - UPDATE, so, this is true and it is supposed to be installed on the passenger side near the firewall. This tray is not designed to be used in the location you're using it in. It is however, one of the best options on the market right now. It's going to be tight and PDX said he had to bend his bracket to make the res stay.

I still need to spend a good day working on it to figure out how to get the power steering reservoir to mount up on it and not come into contact with the dipstick tube. Right now it is all just bouncing around in there.

Any way to relocate the dipstick tube slightly?

One idea I had when looking at this was to relocate the PS reservoir to the other side of the air cleaner. I do not see why longer hose would make any difference in the way it works. Just need to add more fluid.

TJM said to bend the tube. The problem is, I think the bolt that mounts the tube to the engine is right by the top, so not much bending would be possible. Plus don't want to crimp or break the tube.

That might be what I have to end up doing. Been trying to meet up with a friend to spend some time looking at it to see what we can come up with.

So the question is, is the Slee tray the better option over the TJM? i.e. more plug and play friendly

The Slee tray will be a better option because it is designed to be installed in that location. The TJM tray is not.
The Slee tray will also provide for more clearance. I am waiting on his tray. Supposedly it's about 2 months out.

The tray definitely provides for more room on the right.

Our kit for the 2nd battery should be ready to ship before Christmas. The cost will be $125 for the kit and part number will be SOK0005. The kit consist of a tray with power steering relocation bracket, J bolts, hold down bar and also bottom nylon tray insert. It also make provision for relocating the resistor. Fits Odyssey 35-PC1400 battery or similar size.

The primary upgrade kit will be in a month or so, as well as a compressor mount for a single and dual ARB compressor
