Titan ak-1 forged wheels 19 lbs

I think this is an interesting discussion.

Of note, a raptor’s Max payload is 1400 lbs which, added to its weight of 5740 is 7,140 lbs. So whatever fords engineers are doing with their, published, figures they expect that the raptor wheels are, for the lawyers, designed for 7,140 lbs, likely working load.

Since Toyota doesn’t publish its load ratings on its wheels, I can only assume that the wheels are designed for a 6,000 lb vehicle (lx570) and 1385 payload…meaning a working load around 7,385.

Rock warriors, though, weren’t specifically designed for a 200 and, in the us, weren’t installed. Rock warriors were installed on a vehicle, it appears, with a load limit of 7,100 (2010 tundra rock warrior), comparable to that of a raptor.

Using all these numbers and best guessing it, it might behoove one to use a heavier duty rim on a 200 than they would on a raptor/tundra rock warrior…but not by much I’d guess…the load limit might be so close that it might take years of abuse before failures began to happen…which would comport with the cracked rock warriors I’ve seen for sale.

A minor point, but in 2012 when I purchased my 2013 LC200, I also purchased the "17" TRD Alloy Wheel" (aka Rock Warriors) as a dealer option. These wheels were available for the Tundra, Sequoia and Land Cruiser - here's the "poop sheet" from Toyota:

It is reasonable to assume that Toyota fully tested the compatibility and suitability of these wheels on all 3 platforms.

I will add, for what it’s worth, that when I purchased my 2010 LC new Rock Warriors were offered in the Toyota marketing brochure as an option. Regrettably I didn’t purchase them when I bought my vehicle, but they were an “official “ option all the same.

Yep. Good call. This is the first time I’ve seen documentation of rock warriors being installed on a land cruiser in the United States. I always assumed it was an overseas option.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes they did. They did overbuild it. I work in design for another major automotive manufacture, and we have to overbuild beyond “normal” specs and requirements for wheels too… for various reasons. That being said, it comes down to what you, as an end user, are comfortable with.
Meanwhile toyota engineers feel 2500 was necessary…

I for one am glad the Toyota wheels are (probably) rated for 2500 lbs...

Nice… im interested in weighing my LX too… it might change my mind on some things… but we’ll see.
thx for sharing your weight. Safe to assume thats fully loaded?
Fully loaded with a fully loaded trailer which IIRC also had some water in the tanks. Somewhere around here I posted the info with that weigh in but I was a family of 5, dog, cooler, and kayaks in the truck, and then about 920# of trailer tongue weight
