i have the stock 7" rims looking for 33 by 12.5 tires what rim diameter is recommended for these tires, looking to bolt on some stock toy rims.

Always go to the manufacturer's website. For example, if you were looking at BFG all terrains then you would go here:

http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/specs/all-terrain-t-a-ko/44.html

And if you did then you would see that they would recommend 8.5" to 11" rims for 33x12.50-15.

That doesn't mean that 7" won't work. That I'm not sure about.

7" will not work-the tires, if someone will mount them, will not have a proper foot print and the seal will not be what it should.

I am almost sure that Toyota came out with 8.5's on some of their runners-you need to check with the 4runner guys.

10's, of course, are always an option but I am fairly sure Toyota has never had a OE 10" wheel. That would have to be a aftermarket avenue.

I have 33 x 10.5 KM2s on 7" wheels, and I think they're perfect, but I definitely wouldn't want 12.5s on these wheels. I think plenty of people run 12.5s on 8" rims, right guys?

It will fit, it will work, may look a bit funny. But no worries...

Sorry man, I completely disagree. Working is not acceptable in my book.

12.5's are not designed to work with 7" wheel. Hell, for that matter 8" wheels are pushing the limits.

You cannot get a proper fit and the tire will not have a proper foot print i.e. the outside lugs will be concaved and your tire will wear horribly.

Why would you do that??
