Tire grooving

I posted in many areas and did lots of research, but not many replies? I was going to sipe the tires, then I changed my mind and I decidecd to groove them. This looks like it will work well and if anyone wants to use it please let me know. No charge if you pick-up. This is a #2 because I wanted a small groove, but it came w/ the #4 and 12 each so there are plenty of blades if someone wants to use it?:p

Have you run them ungrooved? I noticed a 200% improvement in my SX's after I got about 5lb of rubber off them. Increased flex, better ride, better footprint, and TONS more traction. My rig only weighs about 5K too.

O'yea

This is my 2'nd set of Krawlers, but out West the rocks are much more dry and I didn't want to buy new TSL Sx's when I have so much tread left, so this was the cheapest alternative. I will see and if I need to groove more I will.:hhmm:
If I bought new tires it would be the 36" TSL Sx.. I like'em.....:hillbilly:

How deep did you go?

I really need to get them out for a trip and see about on road manners?
I'm more interested in the wet rock performance. The say that grooving lets the tire run cooler and also helps w/ wear. If anyone has details on what they have done, please chime in.

I didn't know if you drove them on the road or not. I've been torn on what to do with my MT/Rs, whether or not I should groove / sipe them. I DD my rig so on road and offroad traction are both concerns of mine.

To the trail and back

I drive mine to the trail, but for a dd I would sipe for sure no draw-backs to that.
It improves traction on wet and snowy surfaces. I was looking @ siping, then decided to groove.:meh:
My first set of tires were TSL's then( Goodyear Wrangler) MT/R's and on to the Krawlers. I liked the MT/R's good tire (soft compound) :steer:

Looks time consuming, how long did it take to do each tire?

Grooving my SX's were the best thing I ever did. I hated those tires until I grooved and siped them. Then I sold them for stickies. :D

Took me about two beers per tire.

Hummmm, would like to do mine,,,but got toooo many other things to do
