I used ATD for my cowl PPF and tint on my LC.

Tint looks great overall, though when I had to get new windshields, I went with top edge in Cary afterwards.

I picked it up after hours and some of the PPF edges weren’t quite right. It’s a Long way from my house and I didn’t want to have to deal with another trip there so I made it work as is. Most of the PPF is solid still and the bumped up concave edges haven’t gotten worse (that I can tell), but it does trap dirt and I notice them. Granted, I have started backing off three bucket washes every week over the past few months. I know - I’m sick.

Abby at atd was great to deal with via email. This was my first car I’ve had PPF applied to so I don’t know what is to be expected. As I’ve said before, you’re buying the installer - not the product. The product is uniform, the installers are not.

If you want a good ceramic guy (in Durham), let me know.
Thanks for the feedback! Estimates are all over the place for the three that I've gotten so far, like $2k more from ATD vs King Tutt and TVP.

Definitely interested in your ceramic guy.

TVP was the shop I almost went with! NOT to drag ATD in any regard, but I wish I would have given TVP a shot. When I went to their shop, they were working on all sorts of exotics (read: lots of curves), so a 200/100/LC shouldn't be a problem with xpel PPF.

I went with Nanopros in Durham for ceramic coating for my wife's van. They use GTECHNIQ products and do one heck of a job. Unsolicited, they pulled the license plate and coated everything on the exterior with ceramic. It was included, but they removed and coated the wheels too. I would go with Nanopros again without hesitation.

Revisiting this as I never actually got any tint done years ago. However, I'm going to get the 60 tinted before GSMTR and called around. TVP wouldn't quote it without seeing it and I don't want to drive all the way down there just for a quote. Shade quoted $870 for Llumar IRX ceramic on all windows and windshield. Top Edge quoted $750 for the same but with Xpel tint. I really want to go with Llumar so unless I find another shop using Llumar that's reputable and cheaper, I'll likely go with Shade Custom Tint.

I'm leaning towards Llumar mainly because Xpel is still relatively new to the market where as Llumar has been around for decades and their films last plain and simple. Xpel just hasn't been on the market long enough to get a good gauge of their longevity.

Thinking 70-80% on the windshield and 20% on the other windows.

FWIW, I have xpel window film on 3 cars with the oldest film being on for 3 years. Zero issues to report.

Top Edge with Jeff and his crew still get my unsolicited vote.

I read on a window tint forum that xpel is made by Global or at the same facility. Could be BS, I don't know.

I do know that Global is used at most of the Toyota dealerships and is great quality and has been around for a long time.

I've had Global ceramic on my 200 for a few years now, no issues and it rejects lots of heat

Got an appointment with Shade on the 31st. Will report back afterwards on how it goes.
How did it go? I'm going to start getting quotes this week for my 90, recent personal experiences mean a lot to me.

I'd give it 8/10. Not exceptional but not bad. There were a few areas they need to redo due to bubbles, granted the glass on my 60 is pretty rough. It took longer than expected as they had to freehand cut all of the tint and had to recut a few. Depending on your year 80 they may be able to laser cut the tint which would make it much better.

I really wanted this specific tint and they were the best reviewed place locally that carried Llumar tint. If I wasn't hung up on wanting Llumar I probably would have gone with Top Edge Tint.

I truly hope they make it right for you! And I do appreciate the followup, since I have a 90 I doubt any shop in the area will have a template. I'll get a quote from them regardless...

After hemming and hawing for months, getting some quotes etc, I finally settled on having Artie's Professional Window Tinting do my 90. Dropped it off this morning, got it back this afternoon.

He did a fantastic job! Really exceeded my expectations, it genuinely looks as if it came from the factory like this. I'm letting it cure in the garage the next several days; and once it gets warm out, I'll follow up if there are any issues. Just super, super happy with the work and the price (not the lowest, but not obscene).

He did the windshield 70%, door windows at 40%, rear 3 windows at 20% <- if I recall correctly.

Artie's also a car guy, has a nice shop:

He's out off 42 in Harnett County, but a Holly Springs address. He's also quite a character, former Lawn Guylander living on a dirt road with his family and chickens...
