My wife wants me to remove the tint from the three rear windows on her 62 how the hell do you get this crap off. The rear window will probably just be replaced because the defrost strips are torn and only half works anyways. Do i just scrape it off with razor blades or is there an easier way?

What I know

Man I had a bitch of a time getting mine off prior to retinting, the guy at the tint shop told me that the trade secret was regular old Formula 409 not any of the new improved stuff, just the regular recipe 409 and some no-scratch scrubbies

Razor, heat gun, elbow grease

but...

Yeah I used a razor (wide ones from utility knifes) for the beginning stages prior to adhesive removal as well, BUT don't razor the rear tailgate window unless you want to scrap your rear defroster strips

When I got my '62 the front door windows were tinted and it flunked inspection. I asked the guy how the heck I was gonna get it off, and he reached up and peeled back a corner, then grabbed it and riiiiiippp it peeled right off in one big sheet. It was July and the truck had been sitting out in the sun, so I'm sure that helped. A little adhesive residue left behind came right off with some laquer thinner.

Ammonia melts the glue. then heat and peel.

Dynosoar

ok i've installed many of tinted windows in the past and i always used "windex w/ ammonia to activeate the glue so try soaking it with the same stuff you use to install it .....................
