Found "Girl" in NorCal during a spring break family roadtrip to visit the Winchester Mansion. Autotrader and I had become one over the course of several months. I wanted a GX470 in the spec I found, but would settle for a decent GX460 :moon:

We drove up to Fair Oaks to check her out. The former owner was a retired teacher with grown children. Her husband has a newer Tacoma. She had a new XC60 Recharge that replaced the GX in the garage. When I asked how often they used the parking brake the husband was borderline offended and replied every time. I wanted to hug him. Left a $1k deposit to let them know I was serious. Took a one way flight up the following weekend and drove Girl to SoCal.

A little history about me. I am a Bilstien fan. The first set of Bilstein's were B6 on my 1996 Honda Accord with .5" H&R OE Sport springs. Most recently had a 2021 GMC 1500 4x4 (sold and proceeds used to fund the GX) that had 6112/5160 shocks. My next vehicle would be upgraded further up the Bilstein product line.

These things have an e-brake😜
I never use it.

First mod was plugging in the OBDII BT adapter for the trip home. Everything looked great on the way home and gave me piece of mind. About 1 hour into the drive the AUX jack stopped working.

This was purchased for $12.99.

It was a bit shorter than the original, but snapped into place after cracking open the assembly. Using an aux cable with a small boot is required.

Replaced the splash guards. The amount of rust on the exhaust manifolds has me afraid of the cold tick and inevitable crack. Had to protect what life is left in them.

Did a test fit of the Method MR316 17X8.5 0 offset wheels removed from the GMC sold to Carmax to fund the GX. I had no idea they shared the same bolt pattern. Had to get smaller lugs and wheel locks. The Goodyear tires have a lot of life, but they are loud compared to the BFG Trail Terrains on the stock wheels. I am considering selling the 316s for a set of 703s or 705s with Wild Peak A/T4Ws.

Need to catch up on this thread. The “what did you do” thread has more content.

Did a suspension inspection and found all original stuff with cracked rubber bushings. Ordered and installed new Lexus front LCA & UCA. Amazon front swaybar bushings and endlinks. The front left wheel bearing had a wobble and replaced that with a stuffed SKF unit.

Replaced the left 3rd row seat with an OfferUp find. Discovered the 3rd row middle headrest.

Catching up here.

Rubber seals? were not in place. Ordered some from Lexus and they are a PITA to set. Thought they were all set and lost one somewhere so I pulled the 3 that were left.

PO was hit on the left rear panel and the ventilator was dislodged. Did some “body work” to get it back in place. Found the original wheel lock on top of the fender liner.

Fitted the shocks. Air springs stayed so I had to figure out a way for the rear remote reservoir hose to be secured on the drivers side. Replaced trailing arms and panrod bar.
