Hi there

I am hitting 220 k km or 140 k miles on our LC 100 s.

I recall timing belt was done close to 80 k but water pump was no changed.

Is there any way to inspect toming belt pr just safer to go do the full service ?

Saw nice Aisin full kits on Amazon with OE parts made in Japan. Anyone tried these kit ?

I recently had the Aisin kit from Amazon installed at my dealer. The parts were all OE and had no complaints from the dealer. My belt looked brand new after 100K miles and 12 years. You have to remove quite a bit to get to one of the timing covers to take a look, but it can be done.

You can pull the passenger side timing cover far enough to inspect belt without removing really much else other than engine cover. I used the Aisin kit on Amazon when I did mine, everything was OE and worked perfectly. If they only changed the belt and not the pump or the rollers/tensioner then I would just do the whole thing while in there. From what I've seen from reviewing the board the belt is not the weak point in this system, rollers failing seems to be but even then pretty rare and typically higher mileage.

Thanks a lot.

Does Aisin kit comes complete with the hydraulic tensioner ?

Digging in as far as a timing belt and not replacing the water pump is like taking a shower and putting your dirty clothes back on.

It's the 100 board. I toned it down. :flipoff2:

its impossible to determine, by visual inspection, if your worn/aged belt has measurable life remaining. Of course before its past its useful life ;)

Any link to the amazon kit? Cost? Complete kit or are there other parts that need to be purchased? I'm at 82k so this will be getting done in the next 12 months or so.

I don't see a link. Am I blind?

You're not blind. I googled "aisin kit" on amazon.com. I then checked the list until I found the kit that fit my '01 LX. Took a total of about a minute.

This is what I found... http://www.amazon.com/Aisin-TKT-021-Engine-Timing-Water/dp/B008EEYWKI/?tag=ihco-20

As was posted, there is no way to eyeball the belt and predict when it will fail...it's like an oil change or any other scheduled maintenance.

Buy a thermostat and a thermostat seal (gasket) while you're at it.

^^That's the kit I bought. Highly recommend it.
Sweet. I will go with this kit when I do the TB next year.

Just google "aisen timing belt kit 2UZFE" and lots of options will come up.

I got my 100 with 178k miles on it. Original timing belt and water pump based on records and visual inspection.

I was able to negotiate the price way down based on this. Pretty impressed as the belt and water pump looked fine and it was a New Hampshire truck it's whole life before coming to CT (God forbid the rust!).

Did everything while in there for peace of mind.
