I have the dreaded, sporadic hard to push brake problem now. Does anyone have the actual steps to replace the brake booster? With pics would be a plus. Is this a hard job to do? I plan on doing it myself. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, all! (1996 L/C)
You can do it, it takes about an hour and really isn't bad at all. I dreaded it at first, but after doing it can't believe I waited so long. Take off master cylinder, disconnect brake lines, remove vacuum hose, unbolt, twist it up and out, replace, put master cylinder back in and bleed the brakes. 2 People helps.
Thanks, musthave. I am not a mechanic but I follow directions well. Is the MC attached with 4 screws/bolts? Is it really that simple? I may need a little more detail because I don't want to screw anything up as this is my DD.
It's on my to-do list as well. I read a few threads and saw some pics, but I didn't think removing brake lines and bleeding was necessary. Hhhmmmm.???? Maybe I just read the thread wrong.
Just did this myself. First job on the cruiser, and I am not very mechanically inclined. Removing brake lines and bleeding is NOT necessary. Here is my simple write-up:
You don't need to disconnect the brake lines from the Master Cylinder. There is enough flex there to do it. I'm a 1-2 banana mechanic at best. Took me 20 minutes. Wish I had painted mine first...
That I can't help you with, I don't know much about the speakers as I've only had my LC for a few weeks now. Try using the search function in the upper right window... I'm sure it'll dig up something regarding the wires.
