I have a 72 Iron Pig and on the relay rod it has a left hand thread and a right thread side for the tie rods. Is there something else that will cross over for the left hand thread side? I cannot find one that will work. I have found all the others but this one. Thanks for the help.

They are also available new from Toyota. Each end comes with a new rod. The clamps are sold separately and are also available.

@mel lowe, the problem with the new OEM Toyota Tie-Rod, Drag-Link & Relay-Rod's is that the threaded portions are longer, hence why Toyota includes the new tubes. Many original tubes don't have deep enough drill/tap ends to allow correct installation of the new style supercession ends. So, you can go all new but you end up spending twice as much to get what you need. Now, we have a solution to that, we sell the new tubes separately and we also stock the OEM Toyota TRE's (as well as our popular Japanese 555 ends), so we can provide all new OEM with or w/o tubes or Japanese aftermarket with or w/out tubes. What you can't do is use the factory Toyota ends without the updated tubes.

40 Tubes & Clamps:

4x Series Replacement Links/Tubes (OEM Toyota)
Tie Rod - Fits 1968-84 4x Series LHD/RHD - Part# TRET60021 - $88.50
Relay Rod - Fits 1968-84 4x Series LHD - Part# TRET60040 - $82.50
Drag Link - Fits 1968-84 4x Series LHD/RHD - Part# TRET60010 - $82.50

Tie Rod, Drag Link & Relay Rod Tube Clamps (Two Per Link/Tube)
TRET17CLAMP (Fits 4x/5x Series Relay Rod & Drag Link) - $13/each
TRET21CLAMP (Fits 4x/5x Series Tie Rod & 6x/7x/8x Drag Link) - $13/each

We also stock some aftermarket (Joint Fuji, OE supplier) Tie-Rod, Drag-Link & Relay-Rod assemblies and have many more on the way. Soon we'll have all assemblies with tubes, ends and clamps as one part number.

Outstanding as usual Kurt @cruiseroutfit !!!

Question, if I convert my 55 front end to 60 knuckles, can you make up some custom length tie rod for me? It would take the 60 TREs, but be the right width for 40/55 housing...

The 60 drag-link end uses a GIANT taper, larger than any other LC applications. As such, the passenger 60 TRE has a hole that is too big to do much with short of machining a spacer shim (such as the shim to use 4x/5x TRE's in a 6x/7x steering arm which is the method you should go with imo). You could use the 6x Series DLE that plugs into the 60 TRE but it has a different shank thank the 4x so you'd still be custom and it is a spring-loaded end, something I'd skip when not original. Another option is to find 79-84 40 Series Steering arms, they have the small taper but large knuckle pattern so a direct fit with the 60 knuckles and your 55 tie rod ends, plug and play. We used to have them available new, they are no longer available so the shim is the best option. We stock them and they work great. Part# TRESHIM

Part of this was sounding familiar, and part was not, so I looked back at when you helped me with the 60 series steering on my 40:
FJ60 Power Steering Conversion for FJ40 while keeping air pump
In there you were saying the 60/62 drag link end taper is the same size as the 80 TRE taper. We also figured out the 60/62 drag link end was the same as the 70 series drag link end.

What I want to do is standardize things a little, so I wanted to put 60 knuckles on the 55 and 40 front axles and just run my 70 series drag links.
If I had these 60 series knuckles and steering arms on, would I be able to order shorter tie rod tubes from you that would accept 60/62/70 TRE's?
This might be getting too complicated to describe in a thread, if it is better to call, that is fine.
Thanks Kurt!

I did?

"Glad to hear it worked out nicely TJ. In the process of helping I learned something new. The Drag-Link Taper of an FJ60/62 is larger than the regular tie rod of the 60/62 which is the same as the 80 tie rod taper. So there are at least 3 common taper depths used by Toyota."

I was trying to say the 6x/7x tre taper is the same as the 80 tre/dle. The 6x/7x dle taper is larger.
