So I just had a thought, if you accidentally indexed the throttle lever on a rotary pump off a tooth, so you had to turn up the fuel to get it to idle, could that cause black smoke and a 'weird' feeling throttle pedal like it not being able to rev high enough even though the max stop is all the way out?
My way of thinking is, you arent pulling on the governor as hard to obtain the same amount of accceleration so it feels like the governor is stronger and you wont be able to rev it as high. And since the dynamic timing is now off, you blow a bunch of black smoke?
Just a thought.
