It does have AC/DC, which is prefered, but I didn't use the DC much. You can buy an old Lincoln ( tombstone ) for under a Hundred, if you look.

Had looked at a tombstone a few weeks ago, but he wouldn't go that low.

Banged up, rusty, broken lead - I'd offer him $150 tops.
Does look kind of ratty. Not much comes available around here, so I always want to jump on anything.

Comes with free hammer....(new) Bought new hammer and then decided to sell???

What you will be welding(majority of the time) is also something you should consider. I've used the Thunderbolt in the past and they are really good machines capable of running some nice hot beads on thick plate. With that said, if you are hoping to weld some FJ40 sheetmetal with this unit forget about it. You'll need a MIG unit. To me, the MIG welder gives you the best of both worlds especially regarding autos. You can weld a new shock tower on the frame while switching to thinner gauge wire to have at the sheetmetal.

Keep checking CL. They pop up all the time around me. I got a Millermatic 130 about a year ago for $200 on CL.

Thanks for the info TMT. I would work mostly on sheet metal. I guess a gas Mig is what I probably need.

Get a MIG with gas and some nice small diameter wire for sheet metal. That arc welder is more suited for attaching tractor teeth.

considering is an AC DC machine the price is about right, lower can always be better right?
since you are going to be doing sheet metal, a MIG will do a better job

Get a MIG!
