Guys,

I am considering the Cooper Discover STT and wanted to know if anyone had this tire and any thoughts. MIleage and useage would be great. These would be in 285/75 16 for a 99 100 series.

Thanks,

Not familiar with that tire. Is a decent on / off with a good price?

Bajataco is running them and he really likes them. Several people at TTORA have them and are reporting good results.

His last set of tires was GY MTR. He likes the SST's better. The balance better and have performed well for him.

I think you are looking at around $160-170 per tire.

I have those on my F-350, which is used in very extreme conditions in the North Alberta oil patch. So far they work great for snow/mud, low noise, and good wear, but they seem to chip/chunk really easily. I am happy with them for now, but may try the open country mt next time.

They look like a knock off of the much better Toyo Open Country MT. The price difference used to be enough to make the Coopers worth looking at but the Toyos have come down a bunch. Do a price check and if you can get them a lot cheaper, go for it.

I was looking at some at the tire store 2 days ago while they were fixing a flat, they look very stout. I like the fact that they have some siping (as opposed to the MT/R), and some sidewall tread, and have 3 ply sidewalls. I think I will be trying them or the Firestone Destination M/T, as a slightly cheaper alternatives than GY MT/R or BFG M/T.

They are better than a Toyo as far as sidewall protection goes. I have a set of 30" ones on my suzuki sidekick and they flat out rock. We had a group out snow wheeling a couple of weeks ago (all similar weight and size, HP too!) and my Coopers aired to 6 psi would flat out drive around a vehicle with BFG MT's aired to the same. Plus my wet road traction is simply amazing. I used to be able to spin a set of BFG AT's but not these.

The only complaint is the are still a little limited in sizes.

I have had the Coopers for about 3 months. Love them. Hated my Toyo at's. So far they are great in the snow and mud and have very little noise. The true test for me will be this summer in all the loose rock around here. Way too many punctures from rocks with my Toyo's. Price was right too. Toyo M/T'S around here were 50 bucks more. A PIECE!! No thank you.

I've run the STT's for about 2 months now and love them. The balanced up nice, very stout, and are very quite on the highway. Like them MUCH more than the MT/R's I had previously. They performed extremely well in the snow, and I'll be testing them on the slickrock in Moab next week.

I paid $220 for 315/75R16's - including tax and mounting.

I've had mine for a couple months as well. Made a few trips in snow and Mud, no rock yet. So far I like them a lot. Seem much better in the snow than my MTR's

Not too noisy for a much more aggressive tread than what my Lexus came with.

I'm looking at the BFG KM2 or the cooper stt's. Any experience from anyone that has run both? The KM2's are about $70/tire more than the Cooper STT.

i have run older coopers on ranch trucks and the were great as far as longevity(read harder compound) and worked well in the mud/dirt/farm environment, at about 45,000mi a year. i have heard that the mt's are great, but the harder compound on rocks will lead to slides/loss of traction. anyone else heard of this?

Hi All:

I have a buddy that likes Cooper SST tires a lot, but it seems that the tread compound is a bit on the soft side because after flat-towing his Heep TJ to Moab the front tires had a bunch more wear than the rear set.

Regards,

Alan
