Did you have to use Ramshorn manifolds on the 60???

Or do standard exhaust manifolds work??

I know you need them for a 40 but I am not positive that I need them for a 60..

I think both will work. I have the rams on mine, but we just did FJKai's and he is running 1 of each (ya, don't ask) with Mark's Adapter. There is so much room in the 60 for a V8 it's crazy.

Right on...

Then the spagetti headers will fit with a 5.0

Also, how much did you offset the motor to one side (2" to the drivers side or...)

Stock exhaust 5.7 TPI engine 1 inch offset to DS

I had to use ramhorns but I did it the red-neck poor college kid way and didn't move the tranny forward at all. I just beat the hell out of the firewall for a few hours and made the motor fit.

I wanted the shop that did my 5.7 Vortec to use ramshorns but they just had to use block-huggers. They dented one tube to clear the steering knuckle. I've had to replace gaskets twice. I'm just waiting to develop a crack so I can install ramshorns. They look like they could just bolt in.

I used block huggers b/c I was concerned that rear-dumps might put too much heat near the gas and brake lines near the firewall on the PS.

I used the stock rear dump chevy manifolds. I don't have the room for headers, we tried 4-5 sets but none of them would clear the steering gear.

Greg, interesting thought about the heat issue. I was told by the exhaust shop that all you needed was 1/2 between the fuel lines and the exhuast... sounds tight to me.

Surprized to hear about problems clearing the steering box. My #3 header tube clears the box by about 3/8". But each of these swapped-in trucks is a one-off, I guess.

My stock rear dump on my 6.2 has been pretty well clearanced by cutting and welding the floor and firewall on the right side. A 6.2 is considerably wider than a 5.0 and it's set back to the stock location to clear the oil pan on the unlifted diff.

No room for much of an offset.

Every truck is a one off.

I think "one off" is the definition of bob :)

mine are Headmans, fit perfect, I think they are made just for such a conversion, come out in about the perfect spot.
