Much as I struggle with the idea, I am coming to a point of acceptance that I should sell my HJ47. It needs some TLC (body work, front diff, and exhaust), and I have neither the time, nor the 'spare' money, nor the tools, nor -most critically- the work space to tackle the needed work. None of that work is urgent, but it should be dealt with soonish. I also need some capital for other purchases related to my line of work. It's been my daily driver for the past 3 years and got me across the country carrying at least a ton of stuff, so I am reluctant to part with it. $50,000 went into it, not sure what it will be worth on the market but I will of course take some loss on the investment. Par for the course I guess.

I am Henry James the 47th, and I've had an addiction to Landcruisers...

No good, I loved your build thread. Good luck with the sale mate.

You have no idea how much I wish I had some spare cash sitting around right now to snatch up a truck like that...

Other than the body work, nothing you noted is super expensive or space consuming to deal with.

Heck, I'd rebuild the front axle/diff outside in a weekend, and exhaust should be $500 and 4 hours for an exhaust shop.

Either way, good luck with whatever you decide. You may get to rebuild, drive, and sell yours before I even get mine on the road at this pace. ;)

Dan,

thanks. I am nervously watching on Ebay to see what happens. Auction closes tomorrow. Either it sells and I move on to other things or it doesn't and I reconsider.

Finding the competant exhaust shop has been difficult, and the 1 person i found within driving distance wants $800 for an aluminized system, and $1200 for a lifetime stainless system. The front diff is no big deal, but the bodywork is more of a project. I have been looking at renting a garage space, so again, we'll see what happens tomorrow. 45 watchers, no bids...

Looking forward to keeping up with your build on the 45 when you get around to it.

There are a lot of exhaust shops in CT. that are very reasonable,I can't imagine paying that much for a system.I wish you luck on the sale, and hope you reconsider if the sale does not go thru.

Hmmm.. guess you get to keep it then.
