Hi all,

Looking at a BJ73. Price is 8900. 145,000kms on the engine. Guy claims all around in excellent shape. No rust......is this even possible? New brakes, etc.etc......steal of a deal compared to a BJ60 for 6000.00 with no lift and good frame and body without rust at 234,000km? Both great vehicles no doubt..just don't need the extra space right now that a BJ60 has, and don't mind paying a little more for what seems like a lot more........am i on the right track or am i missing something?

It is RHD, a JDM. Ya the price is very low, but guy claims it's all in excellent shape. No blue smoke, new head, new brakes, winch etc. Car prices have fallen drastically lately in Canada. The guy who's selling the BJ wanted 10,500 for it when he started. He's down to 6000 now......Good deals to be had. You think go for the 73? That's how I'm leaning, but I want to look at both.

Surprising it needed a new head at 140k. Buyers who are cashed up are probably bypassing the BJ73 to get to the BJ74 and HZJ73 with lockers.
The BJ73 still has a lot of potential in my books

My 85 BJ73 is my daily driver. I bought it with 83,000kms on it and no rust. Over the past 5 years I've put 87,000km on it. It's basically still stock and it has been a good little truck. I've used it around town, but specifically bought it for the commutes in the winter between NE British Columbia and Calgary. I haven't had many problems with it, although I had to have the rotary pump rebuilt and get the rad recored, put in a new thermostat and water pump. It's not a rocket by any means but if you're used to driving something that'll go faster than 120km/hr with ease you may be a little disappointed with performance, especially when passing on single lane highways. The lack of space between the rear and front seats may drive you a little nuts if you plan on putting anyone back there for an extended period of time. However, the seat can be relocated if need be. The only shortcoming may be in pulling power - if you won't be doing much then you probably won't care. This past winter I used mine to pull my aluminum sled trailer loaded with 2 sleds up and down the Peace River valley (large pull) and while I had to drop down to 3rd gear, the 73 chugged along up the hill, slowly but surely. HTH.

so...
go check it out WITHOUT the rose colored glasses on, personally, i like the BJ73 over the BJ74 but that is just me.

he is trying to get some of his money back...make a kickass wheeling rig.
