Well me either I'm not to savvy on working on cars. The n 4 00 is that a diffrent transfercase iv had a fj 80 for the longest time and i loved it . I'm planning on getting another to do this project . I do have a budget to work with. What is the split case do. does it split the gears from 4 to 2 by in the transfer case from the fj80 landcrusier

I didn't yet have bought a 4bt motor but I am planning on getting a automatic transmission cause of my lack of movement in my hips so I can't push in the clutch in enough and I don't have the reflex on using the brake an gas . And i aso would like to know is if i change the transfer case out of a fj80 land cruiser so I could switch it in an out of 4 wheel drive

Ok, we know you want a 4BT, and because you want part-time 4WD you either need to take the FZJ80 transfer and convert it to part time or use a split-case out of a FJ60 or FJ62.

Next, pick your automatic transmission. There are tons of them out there. There isn't only "one" automatic transmission that came behind a 4BT.

I heard the best thing is to use the transmission that came with the 4bt. What automatic transmission should i look for i would like the overdrive for highway use am on a budget so I was also looking more into the motor and transmission in one

check out some of the salvage yards or used listings for van body delivery type trucks...."Frito_lay"...and others....4bt engine and transmission all in one stop...thats where I would look.

OK that would save me alot of money doing it that way . I have had that thought of getting the motor in a salvage yards but iv had bad problems with getting motors from salvage yards and the people their said they are running and sound but it ends up being junk. And when I take them back the people would say they aren't taking things back an i got it as is and when I show them the recipe and it's before 30 and no writing saying as is i ended up having a big paper weight at home and i didn't get anything back.
