If we give the 60 some credit for not being fresh, and try to extrapolate some sort drivetrain loss equation from the published power numbers, carry the one, round up here, round down there, convert to imperial units, then reverse calculate torque from the hp formula....

We could probably make the argument that we are in the 200 hp, 260 ft-lbs +/- 5% neighborhood.

On cheap gas.

My machine shop looked at the graph and immediately said the horsepower is dropping off at the top end due to lack of airflow, probably an intake restriction :grinpimp:

Exactly what I was going to say. If it was on my turbo 1FZi would have said one of the silicone couplers was collapsing 😜

So, Cam is making light of the conversation we are having about coming to a true-at-the-flywheel horsepower/torque numbers.

We have to work with some assumptions here to bake this cake.

Again, this is mainly for the person that wants to know if the Cop Motor build is worth the premium for them.

Right off the bat we know that the HP gain is 58%

Working backwards with the published HP of 125 hp from Toyota these numbers Cam are posting are pretty in line with a 58% gain.

In fact, add a bit of algebra and you can come up with something close.

Just for fun Cam made this calculator to get the stock 60 close to the Published HP of a 2F using round numbers

Use the same formula for the Cop 4.4 and you start to see where we are going here.

On the airflow issue.

The dyno guy said if we wanted to boost the numbers there were many ways to do it. One super simple way would have been for us to remove the air cleaner.

Remember, I have my motor hooked up through the snorkel in a most inefficient way using this accordion hose. Smooth tube would help or just air from the bare air cleaner intake as most of these trucks do

In the end, he said we could honestly beg 5-15 more HP out of this particular motor with a certain amount of tweaking.

I am happy as hell and am calling it good to go.

I just got back from a 700 mile round trip with 200 plus being off road. I got almost 600 miles out of the first tank of fuel.

This thing is a monster. That said, the only person hotter than me in that tin hog with no AC is this asphalt crew

Cam has some tricks up his sleeve for folks that want to push the next build even further though. All it takes is time and money.

Seriously though, it was a fun experiment and cool seeing it in action. Glad to have some actual data to compare builds.

This morning, we got there a few minutes early and watched them clear the shop of several 1500 hp race cars, all louder than Gravedigger, so they could put the 60 up on the rack. It was priceless.

The guys there were totally into it.

What camshaft is in this thing again?

You can always get more air in there....

Nice work.

That’s what the dyno dude kept saying......maybe Joey will run out of crap to do once the 80 turbo is finished and address the real Land Cruisers :)

Cam has the stock cam’s ground.......

I’m about to install a free flow head with LS valves just like the one in the this truck into my FJ60 (See signature) onto a 4.4 motor with about 12,000 miles on it. Stock cam.

Once we do that and get it sorted out I’ll make a dyno date to compare it to the Warthog

Heck yeah! Stop messing with the minivans and start with the real land cruisers
I am genuinely triggered. If this was a 100 series comparison I would be right there with you, but the 80 was the last real land cruiser and everyone knows it. IMO the peak, and this is coming from a guy who owns a 40 :flipoff2:

It’s my joke. Please don’t be triggered. I like the older ones with leaf springs the best.

That said the 100 series is the best all around Land Cruiser ever imported in the US.

Personally I draw the line at the pinnacle of real land Cruisers...the 70 series. All the performance and None of the fancy extras like the 1.5 cup holders the 80 has
