Ran into my local muffler guy. He is trying to get out of it and has a full time mechanic shop. Said it might take a week.

F that. I’ve been needing to practice my welding anyway.

I went back to the old parts dump and pulled out the old back section of the exhaust I had to cut out to fit the 55 gallon tank.

I chopped it up and it looks like I’m a 18” piece if flex tube to do this myself.

Looking forward to seeing if just turning it out gets me the relief from the fumes I need.

Had to grind out my first section but by the time I got to the. Second and third it’s better than 90% of exhaust shop welds

If you think it is hot now, wait until you add a cat. You better add plenty of heat shield...

Or better yet, add heat shield and skip the cat. Just route the exit so you are not sucking fumes in...

A cat, even a cheap one, makes a ton of difference in all the fumes. They are so cheap it's a no brainier.

Also, is that a custom Bump it offroad rear bumper or do they offer it off the shelf?

I was admiring @RUSH55 ’s work on his body mounts and he commented he had a leftover driver side floorboard body mount from Bob.

I got it Friday and smashed it in place using a bushing I stole from my FJ40 kit I’ll likely never use.

When I replaced my floor I never replaced the mount. I had rubber mounts stacked up Dr Seuss style.

The floor bounced around on rough roads threatening to shake all my body filler out :)

I smashed it in. Added my bolt back in and WOW, this really made a huge difference.

Rubber is in there, just not very visible

I cleaned up the seam and my buddy @under_psi tacked it in for me

Im going to seal it up and paint it and call it good

I was reading a thread in here where @J Mack was dropping some serious knowledge on alignment specs

I’ve been dialing in my Mini Truck power steering and am not 100% happy with it. Steers fine. I just have a little more slack than I like.

I’ve tightened up the new rebuilt center arm more but I’m scared to mess with the box itself. I’ve heard the mini box can be unhappy if it’s too tight.

Back to alignment. I figured that need to make sure the specs are right before I decide if I’m going to toss this setup for a Scout Saginaw or not.

Well, according to the shop. Alignment and caster are all good. My rear axle is a bit off center but the front they say is good.

What say the experts? Shims or no shims needed?

It would make a noticable improvement.
Cheap and easy so nothing to lose, if you like the difference they make then a cut and turn would get your pinion angle back and you could add a little more if you feel you need it then.

Georg at Valley Hybrids/Cruiser Brothers has the steel shims as an alternative to the aluminum which will eventually fail.

Oh yeah. Only way to go.

@orangefj45 has 2 and 4 degrees. I’m getting the 4*

I think I see your problem!

Is this the Pig you were driving @ 70+ MPH? You will like a few degrees of caster in the front end. 2 - 4 degrees.

The Browning humpback was a retirement present to Grandfather from Purina and the axe head was his. A local guy just rebuilt it for me. They both look good and at home here

Nice!

I love the way my dad's old A5 shoots. She's a bit more rough looking than yours but still my favorite.
