Thanks man. My DS mount fails the test!

Snug up your rear mounts or replace too.

Mine still has pressure plate shudder

It’s one of my next big projects to do a clutch job.

Dreading it.

I bet!

Trying to remember what mounts we used to get the 3FE into the 55.

Pretty sure the passenger side is 3FE, not sure about DS:

I had a nice ride in the Warthog today and then put it in the crib

I had to run out my steering stops turning to the right. My tire was hitting the steering link rod end.

I also messed with my air mixture some on my City Racer carb.

It has random stuttering issues at cruise RPM....Gas smell. Starts, idles and accelerates good.

The 60 got a set of KM3s so the Warthog got its old KM2s.

I found that my bearing tension was too tight. The hubs were warmer than normal so I cracked them open and backed off some tension.

I went on a 130 mile trip to sell my old KM1s and the hubs were nice and cool.

Nice contrasting paint scheme

You have the patina perfect.

I gotta try the boiled linseed oil. I was going to ask where you got the linseed oil and how long you had to boil it for.

Now I get it

I had such a good drive yesterday I decided to treat myself and the Warthog to a new clutch. I hope this goes smoothly. I got a lot of practice last summer doing 3 of them. It’s the original clutch.

The PO must have been a clutch rider. The flywheel is horribly warped. It’s driving me nuts.

This is the coolest thing ever. @Racer65 had these. One of the weird things I hate to do is pull and reinstall the shifter. This makes it a snap.

I’ve seen worse. I got it all but the 2 top bellhousing bolts and had a better proposition for the afternoon to go canoeing with a hot redhead so I stopped.

Good on ya! It’s always a good idea to know when to say, “land cruiser? What land cruiser?”

Amen. Amen.

Up with the sun. Got the transmission out.

The clutch was hammered.

Looks like my shudder was the exploded pilot bearing.

Now I scrape and clean until I can get the fly resurfaced and start reassembly.

Damn.

The pilot bearing was in pieces and the outer lip is still in there so I don’t get to use my white bread trick and the puller has nothing to grab.

I soaked it in Kroil and walked away

I guess I’ll have to take a die grinder and try to split it.

Not good.

I took a break from it. Let the Kroil soak in. Had a nice lunch and “afternoon nap” with Red.

Rolled back into the shop and put the clips from the slide hammer through the bench grinder.

Tap tap boom.

Kinda like that nap.

The good thing about having to take the flywheel to the machine shop is the down time. This way you don’t rush. Parts get cleaned. s*** gets scraped.

I prefer to take 95% off dry with a paint sprayer and just hit it in the end with water.

@orangefj45 would not let this mess out of his shop but this is as good as it gets at Tilda Bogue Full Service.

Spent the balance of last week hanging with Rsd in the land of lobster and chowder. Martha’s Vineyard is pretty damn cool. Way cooler than I expected.

Got home late. Worked till 4 and rolled into the shop and stabbed that tranny.

It’s amazing how easy this can be if you leave it hooked up to the tranny jack the exact way you pulled it off.

Stoked. Fired it up and let it run. I’ll pray there are no drips tomorrow.

Martha's vineyard $$$$ :)

Unbelievable really. Glad the food and AirBnB were normal folks prices

Truly one of the biggest surprises

Got the shafts back in and took it for a ride. Shudder is 100% gone. Stoked.

Left the shifter limiter off so I’ll have 2Low with the hubs locked. With no
Power steering that will be nice.

Since I had the mat out I ordered some Amazon dynamat stuff to put down

They say you are to roll all the dimples out but I rubbed until I got blisters then realized this crap can’t move so I called it good.
