Well played Jake. Well played.

I just drove my 92 for the first time in a week. Holy s***. It is so much more comfortable to drive than the 93. The power seats in the 93 absolutely suck. I'm glad I have a spare set of 92 manual cloth seats to put in it. The power leather seats are absolute crap. I didn't think there would be that big of a difference but you sit a lot higher in the power seats. And they are stiff on the sides.

This just moved up the priority list. I need to pick a cloth color and tell @FloridaFJ80 so I can get this done.

Going to take the cloth seat frames and have them sandblasted and powder coated to clean them up.
You're really making me want to get some cloth seats to try. I bought some extensions a while back, but I haven't installed them yet. I'm sure the extra legroom will be great, but they also raise it .75", and it's pretty bad as is.

I've owned other 93-97 80s and never noticed it before. But I never really put in much seat time in them. Sold them fairly quickly. The difference is huge. IMHO. I can't wait to switch them out. My son noticed it right away. "These seats are junk!" I thought he was referring to how s***ty the leather is but they just aren't comfortable when compared to the 91-92 cloth seats.

You keep raggin' on that '93, and something bad is going to happen.

Trucks - particularly if kept as part of a fleet - have a way of knowing when they're being, ahem, 'disrespected', and they will get back at you.
Is that one the messican hottie, or the wife?

Oh wait. It doesn't matter.

My '94 clothe manual seats I think are comfy.

I think the cloth seats from 91-94 are the same. They are different with the leather. The leather seats seem to have a stiffer/sharper side to them whereas the cloth seats as softer.

I agree with the cloth seats being more comfortable. Also, they wear great My 1993 cloth seats look new. 1995-1997 cloth was available but very rare based on the 80's I've seen here in Colorado.

First real downpour since I removed the roof rack. She leaks like a screen door in a submarine.

And the lower corners on both sides of the windshield leak too.

:bang:

She's crying...

Nah, not disrespecting her. She's gotten more love from me in the month I've had her than she did in the 23 years the PO had her.

Windshield isn't a huge deal. Just do the Fireman mod. Works fine. Sides is just the tubes, also no biggie.

Haven't updated in a while. Been crazy busy with work. Windshield doesn't leak. It was the stupid moon roof.

Still haven't put my sliders or rack on. Rack is sitting at powder coater. Again. I removed the solar panel slide out and will bolt it back on after the rack is powder coated. Just rattle can painting the slide out.

Sliders will hopefully go on this weekend.

Ordered new shocks. OEM Tokico.

Doing the fridge wiring this weekend. Can't wait! This will be so nice to have done!

Might do the light wiring as well...

Patience!

Ok. Reviving this thread. Planning a trip to California around Christmas to go to Clear Lake for some bass fishing. Taking 10-12 days to get there, fish for a couple of days, and come home. It will take two days driving each way.

What should we do along the way from Iowa to California and back?

Also, we will be staying in the 80 the entire time. I'm leaning towards a RTT because we will be carrying fishing gear and "stuff".

Also plan on taking the canoe with for spots along the way.

Throw out suggestions for things to do and places to go along the way. @baldilocks has already given me a couple of pointers for once we get out to NorCal. And has offered to take us snowboarding.

Have a crap ton of stuff to do to the 80 between now and then!

Between Iowa and the crest of the Sierra, it's going to be cold. Really cold. You could stop and ski in the Tahoe area, otherwise keep going. That time of year in Northern California, it's a crap shoot. It could be cold and rainy, or fairly nice. What it won't be is warm. Though compared to Iowa it will be warmer.

I'd go and spend a few days sight seeing in San Francisco, and then north up the coast, then turn east to Clear Lake. Clear Lake is kind of an odd destination for the middle of winter. Is there another motivation for going there.?

My son hears that the fishing there is incredible. Maybe I need to double check this. Perhaps we go down to Arizona or NM instead...
