That crappy feeling when you are driving in sleet and snow and push the windshield washer and get nothing. Even though you poured a whole gallon of fluid in. Awesome!!

How difficult is the dizzy o ring? And is it just a rubber o ring?
Very easy, just take a picture of the rotor position before you take it out.

When will you be in Silver Lake? I grew up in Spirit Lake, 1-1/2 miles west of West Lake Okoboji. If you need any help there, I have LOTS of relatives that are car/truck guys up there that can get you taken care of.

Even though I lived there for my first 23 years, I never went 'wheelin at Silver Lake. I stayed in the fields and some of the State properties where I wasn't supposed to be.

If you will be in Spirit Lake on a an day OTHER than Sunday, stop at The Family Diner on north main street (aout 1/4 mile north of Hwy 9) aand get breakfast and a GIANT cinnamon roll. Buy a box of them for the road. I buy a box every time we're up there, but they NEVER make it all the way back to KC.

Good Luck! Keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down good buddy!

Are there actually places to legally wheel at silver lake? I really don't have any where to go I'm central Iowa. I work for a gypsum company that owns tons of land, but they don't want anyone on it.

Not that I know of. The Conservation Commission is VERY active in that area and they REALLY frown on folks out tearing up the wetlands or such. There may be a few private trails or farms that people have that they can play on.

When I was there, we owned land right on the Little Sioux river, so we would cross the river and go play in the mud in the field or jump the terraces in our fields, or go find the mud in our own fields. Since then, the land has been purchased by the ICC and it's all state property now.

I was up there a year ago and drove my LC out onto some of the land to go see where I grew up riding motorcycles, raising cows, and fishing. There was 12" of fresh snow and nobody was going to follow me where I went. It was great fun to go back out there and test out the suspension of the LC compared to what my old 68 Chevy used to do. I like my LC a LOT, but I miss the HP of the Chevy,

I'm not going to Silver Lake. I want to get home. I'm on I-80. I'm not getting off of it until I hit I-380.

@reevesci One tank in with the new roof rack and I actually got better gas mileage than I averaged on the first half of the trip. And that was with a lot of mountain passes and s***ty weather.

Mollie is plugging along. Running like a top. But god damn the driver's seat feels like it has been gang banged by circus elephants.

Just added more oil to her. Wasn't as low as last time so maybe the Rotella 15w-40 helped slow her hemorrhaging down. Thanks to @reevesci for the 2.5 gallon container. Hopefully it is enough... :bang:

What's your ETA at home?

What's your ETA at home?

I pulled over in Nebraska and slept at a rest stop. I was exhausted. She idled all night. Will get home mid afternoon today.

Like I said, 95% of the time you will have a tailwind headed east down I-80.

Glad the mileage was good. Be safe.

Safe Travels on your last leg of the trip!

It sounds like it was an adventure!

You're dripping oil on his driveway... o_O

Stopped and filled up with gas. Checked the oil 3x and it has barely dropped in the last 200+ miles. Could be a mix of the heavier weight and the freezing temps in Nebraska...

@NLXTACY Nebraska officially is the worst state of this trip. Horrible state.

My dad lives in Lincoln and I love it there. It's all terrible after that. That drive west to Colorado is AWFUL!
