You might consider a 1994 Volvo 940 Turbo wagon - you can put a lot of stuff in the back with the rear seat down and cruise very well. They have a nearly bulletproof engine/transmission. With the money you save put together a nice FJ60.

this is what I am doing right now. I have a 93 volvo 960 wagon. It holds just about as much as the cruiser, is really comfortable, gets 25mpg at 75mph, and it has a very solid I6 auto tranny combo. I've put 21,000 problem free miles on it in the last year, and hopefully in another year or so, I'll have enough $$ to get an fj-40 to use as a weekend vehicle.

Man, this thread is getting long when I started typing it was only two pages.

and unfortunately all i have to say is

Get a well maintained 60 Biatch.. they rock for everything,
But great gas mileage and going 80mph

My 60 has only left me stranded once in 12 years and 92000 miles. Which could have been avoided had I notice the sound of a squealing smog pump. Which squealed off and on for about 400miles before it failed.

Top that Volvo lovers
