Well, found another dumbass move one of the POs had done, the outside O2 sensor on my '92 is WELDED ON!!! Not only that, but it looks as if someone tried to grind it off, failed, and tried to reweld it.

I now have a slight exhaust leak that is just enough to aggrivate, a welded O2 sensor, a fuggered up bung, and other headaches that will be addressed later.

I was curious about what the average cost to have a new downpipe with bung made would be, and what size pipe I should go with (would replace both and cats w/ high flow if I do this)? I have 2.5 exhaust from the Y-pipe back, should I stick with the 2.25(?) or go to 2.5" Or should I keep the down pipes stock size, and go with a single high flow cat?

Any competent shop should be able to remove the offending part and weld a new bung on, assuming the pipe isn't junk.

The downpipes/cats worked great on my '92. The price was about $150 shipped. Asking CDan for the price (by mistake, I wanted to order the O2 sensor) caused him to *pause* and *pull out the book*. I did not like the sound of that.

My downpipes were rusted, welded, rusted, cut (I'm thinking the PO didn't like the heat shields), welded, boogered up, welded some more, leaking.

aim, I didn't see any downpipes on that website, and as for cats, I'm gonna go with some universal high flow cats due to cost and performance (HP gains, not ability to reduce emissions).

dgranth, whatever is suggested, I know my shop can do it, the question is though, should I just get a new bung welded on, or go with new/larger down pipes. Also, should I go with single cat, or dual?

Ah. What they sell is from the exhaust manifold to the Y - pipe, sensor bung and cat. Sorry I answered the question you didn't ask. Good luck with exhaust!

I'm pretty sure the kind of changes you're talking about would cause problems if you lived near me. Because of emissions, I'm semi-retentive about having stock (or at least stock looking) components, so I am going to fail you as an instigator. I've had uncomfortable experiences with modified vehicles and inspections. My pref. would be the cheaper/easier fix (done right.) Then go out and splurge on some tasty:beer:.

(Don't get me wrong. I'm not bagging on the mods, I'm just still gun shy.)
