Second pic is my tire swing down idea

Thir picture is front bumper idea

I don't know about your truck/buggy/franken80 skills but your MS Paint skills are the stuff of legend sir.

Seriously though, looks like it's coming along nicely.

Weekend #3 of working on the 80 is almost here...who all is coming out besides the usual crowd? Saturday will consist of bending tube, drinking beer, welding, drinking beer, and maybe changing out the springs (depends on when the new ones arrive)....oh and did I say drinking beer?

I'll be doing some side job Fab so I can't make it I may toss a few 's down as well. Ya'll have fun and keep posting those pic's up.

Cold

Very true! It was nice when we finally finished the sides of the cage and got to roll the 80 into the garage and close the door and be out of the wind. Very productive day...the cage is starting to take shape...

Is this still the plan did you change it at all? I say move the braces so they end in nodes like this.

Yea we change the the cage up a little from the initial layout. What you put up is pretty much what we talked about Saturday. Only differences are: You added the X at the back top (I like it, it just never came up Sat.) and we talked about running an angled tube from the B pillar to the C pillar.

Here are a few pictures and my observations, they point alot at things while they build and there is much discussion before making a decision.... P1020560.webp

As Ted said, its a bit of an art and it is never a precise science.

Good pics Andrew...

You should come out more often to document the build, because my phone takes crappy pictures...

From the guy that took a year to build a rear bumper that could have been built by said guys in a day :flipoff2:

Looks good, maybe I will be there next weekend even though its 60 degrees where I am now. Oh and those are some nice looking wheels and tires you have on the truck :flipoff2:

Yea they are nice, got a sweet deal on them...:grinpimp:

They are actually a little small :flipoff2:

Didnt do too much to the truck this weekend, just a couple little things. Dennis and I installed the new 4" ironman springs up front with the 1" spacer. Then Brian and I did a NASCAR suspension swap. I put his stock springs in the back of my truck and he put my old lift on his clean 80. I also made some brackets for my passenger side seat.

I also picked up the new set of shoes...39.5X15X15

Little bit of an update on the Franken80...

-Received my passenger side Corbeau seat in this week
-Ordered my Longfield birf's and axle shafts (should be here next week)
-Finally picked up an equipment trailer so I have a way to get this beast to the trail

So anyone besides the usual crowd coming out tomorrow for bending tube, welding or just being the peanut gallery??? and a little :beer:

Wish I could. I am out of commission since I hurt my leg last week. (Ted knows the details) You guys have fun, looks like you are making good progress.

Hey Nick,
