Took the family to yosemite on a fresh timing belt, fan clutch, alternator and she ran like a champ climbing tioga pass in 90 degree weather... never saw over 200 degrees coolant, or 180 degree transmission... previously as posted in the gas and fumes thread i would have been boiling and smelling gas.. looks like my issue was resolved, prob had a bad fan clutch and truck was heating up too much and causing gas tank to heat up.

Driving the Trans-Taïgas.

In the end, you are 463 miles (745km) away from the nearest town. This would be the most remote place you can reach by car in North America.

How much fuel did you carry? Also, what comms are you using, Sat phone, HAM?

Well... not at all ! No extra fuel and no other type of comms aside of my CB

My 100 is a HDJ100. Round trip of the Trans-Taiga is 833 miles and the consumption with tire at 25psi was 15.7 MPS (US). I have a theorical autonomy of 393 miles on dirt road with tires at 25psi.

I usually get close to 17.5+ full load (7425#) in normal condition.

I informed myself and did my research before embarking on this road. There is one Fishing and Hunting Outfitter right in the middle and another at the very end. I was able to refuel with diesel in both location though it was colored diesel (heating oil) at the end ! And it was pricy !!

... we did not encounter a single humain on a distance of 310 miles ! If I had to do it again, I'll certainly bring a sat phone.
