Another 1000+ miles logged, this time CT to VA to camp for the night, then back to GA the following day. Picked up a Packasport (thing is solid and really well built) on the last day in CT and had to quickly make some brackets to mount it on my roof rack as the supplied u-bolts weren’t long enough. Easy enough to do with some aluminum stock and 3” bolts. A little more wind noise noticed but nothing terrible. Average mpg did go down to about 15.5 with the box on top so not bad (all highway). I did have a 240 mile segment where I only averaged 14.4mpg (calculated at the pump) but I think that was due to elevation...seemed part of the Penn/West Virginia section were mostly up hills. The following 150 mile segment I got 17.4mpg.

Here she is in VA. Close to sunset by the time we arrived so no need to set up the Slumberjack this time.

Yikes, i'd be scared to go over that pile of rubble, might come out of that with a pretzel driveshaft

No sense building a Land Cruiser if you’re afraid to use it. There were several sections much nastier than this but I only have a few pics in the rocks as most of the time I’m concentrating on getting through.

My saying for the newbs ( I’m not inferring you’re a newb brother) is... it’s either gonna’ be a money pit or a memory maker, but it’s gonna cost the same either way. Enjoy the thing.

If I smoke a part, I fix it and enjoy it some more.

I’d be scared to live an hour from these lakes and not have the guts to go see them.

My buddy recently got a Wrangler and I took him to properly break it in this weekend. The trail was very easy and non technical, but we both had a blast and the views were incredible. Win-Win!
