The Incredible Case of the Disappearing Recall

Or, they don’t trust this work with just any tech. I’m sure if anyone in the building could do it this would happen much more quickly, given the low numbers of cruisers and LXs that need addressed.

This has nothing to do with it. It’s a clear cut parts availability issue from supplier side to Toyota.

How's it going.

I spotted this thread and decided to contact my local Houston Lexus dealer about the passenger airbag recall to see if i can bring in my 2011 LX 570. The service advisor told me parts are available and are on order to arrive in a few days. I was setup with an appointment to drop my LX off on 8/21 to have the repair done.

Looks like the log jam has been removed. I have an appointment for next week.

which dealership, are you going?

I also need to get this recall completed. The lexus dealerships in atlanta don't have great reviews. I get my service completed at an independent.

I contacted Northside Lexus in Houston, provided my VIN, was placed on hold for a couple of minutes while they checked. She came back on the line to confirm parts are available and setup my appointment.

I guess I will know for certain that there’s no issues when I go in in 8/21.

I've been using Hennessey Lexus of Gwinett for years. Seem good to me.

I've used Hennessy Lexus of Gwinett for years and have had good experiences with them (notwithstanding this ridiculous recall experience, which I attribute to Toyota, not the dealer). That's where I'm going for my recall.

Just picked up my truck this morning. Only took a couple of hours for them to do it yesterday.

Called dealership yesterday and having mine done on Thursday.

Got mine done today. Dropped it off at 12:30 and it was ready to pick up by 4pm. I got a new passenger seat belt, a carwash and a full tank of gas for free! Updated part# is 04008-71460.
The loaner they gave me was a 2019 GX460 with 1 mile on the odometer, so that was pretty nice too. Nice truck, but made me remember how much I hated the "barn" door on my old GX470!

It's literally just one part - the passenger seatbelt assembly. It's available in different colors for different years, but that's about it. Using my new part number, I found the NHTSA/Lexus technical instructions for the recall. Looks like they only want certified/senior or master technicians performing this one. Interesting read (PDF link): https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...887-9743.pdf&usg=AOvVaw09FvsBe6_Hz3NaVAVI331W

Dealership where I have my vehicle right now is performing the recall repair, said part number for 2016 LC with black interior is 04008-72860 (lines up with @TWillz link above) which will arrive in a few days.

I should have mentioned this last week, but forgot. All years have remedy available. Just schedule up accordingly as parts won’t be stocked.

Scheduled for today GF took the 200 in and after 45 minutes they tell her they did not order the right parts after she provided the VIN when she made the appointment. Way to make friends and influence people at my local Toyota dealer. Now she has to have another appointment and try again. Not happy so far.

Sorry.
what a waste of time.

My recall was completed this morning in a little over an hour. Car wash and a tank of gas for my troubles and I was out the door by 10:00AM. For me, this case is closed....though for the life of me I can't believe how badly Toyota has handled this. I'd love an inside look at WHY.

I better empty my tank before my Saturday appointment. Maybe get a full tank of gas too.

HAHA. This is EXACTLY what I did...I was anticipating a tank of gas based on what someone else here reported so I went in on fumes. IMHO, it was the very least they could do.
