The Hose to Nowhere?

Can anyone tell me what this hose is for? (see pic)

its for a fan that cools the intake manifold since its gets pretty toasty when the motor is shut down . Keeps it from hard starting when hot

Ditto; to cool the exhaust manifold side of the 3FE; exhaust, intake and fuel rail all on the same side. Do you see a fan on the other end of the cooling pipe/assembly.

Thanks guys... just picked up my first FJ80 this past weekend - saw that hose (and the thing it's mounted to) and couldn't figure out what that was for.. have never seen that in any of my previous cars and trucks...

Ok, so why is this space-waster snorkel and electric fan under the hood of my '91 LC and yet there is no electrical connection to it?
I noticed on the relay cover schem right next to it that there is a slot for a fan relay - which I believe would be for this fan - but nothing in that spot under the cover. I have never heard it operating. And so I see why.
So, what's the point? What gives?

That relay is not for that fan. I am pretty sure it is the slot for an electric fan that mounts in front of the A/C condensor which is not available on the US trucks. The only time our fan would come on is after shutting off the truck while the manifolds are hot. If your's is not working then there is something wrong with the system. On mine and several others that I have worked on it turned out to be the temp sensor mounted on the intake manifold that went bad.

There are methods to test the temp sensor mounted near the exhaust manifold, but an easy test is to just move the temp sensor closer to the heat source (the manifold) by bending the mounting bracket; then run the rig, shut it down, and wait for the fan to come on. This is not an exact by-the-FSM method, but a quick way to know whether you have to look further. I bent mine maybe 3/4 inch closer to the manifold and it has worked ever since, comes on now in hot weather occassionally.
