Gotta break that pig in!!!!

Think I'm gonna start a thread in the 45 section to spare people that don't care about my antics......

Have a great weekend everyone!

Dave, bring the pig down and we will take it up to the back 40 and try it out.

that is very cool looking. i like that color alot more than the 40 pumkin. you should start a used car business:)

Hiking today

Bette and I decided since it was a nice day we'd pack a breakfast and head up
to Gap Mtn (1980') It's about a 3 mile round trip. The summit is open and a very good
spot for wild blueberries.
Walked up on a bear! I got within 30 feet of him before he noticed I was there! It was small
less than 100 lbs but he looked like he was in good shape.
Good way to start the day!

Thanks for all the good words! Got 6 hours in today on it. Fun stuff!

I made out big time last year....hopefully my luck will continue. Impressive list!

I finally took my truimph out last night for a shakedown run. This is my first street bike build that has taken way too long.
It is still not fully finished, and needs the carbs readjusted, but she fired up on the second kick and ran like a demon. A little bit of kicking and missing, but I did not rebuild the motor, so I am guessing she needs to have 20 years of barn storage run out of her, and the carbs readjusted when hot.

She is a bit much to manage, and you have to manhandle the thing to turn it -(boy the drag bars LOOK good, though).
Not exactly a nimble bike. What a kick to get on it, though. She is all there. Goes very well in a straight line, and is surprisingly comfotable for a stretched rigid.

The carbs are all rebuilt (3), new coils (3), wires and point sets (3) are all new. Kick only 750 triple, right side foot shift.

I only went down the dirt road I live on, and a few around it, as I am not done with all the wiring, and she might not be quite legal yet.

About 2 miles down the road, the exhaust shook loose (it IS a rigid, after all) and the muffler bounced once off the road, hit the liscense plate bracket and put a nice big ding in it. Aside from that, all went well.

What say you, mud...do I lose the rattle can job (a gas spill on the tank took care of some of that for me) and paint her up pretty? Or do I just leave her as a bit of a rat and hammer it.

crappy pics of bike.

I probably will put it up for sale in a few weeks when she is all good. I have another bike, and a friend wants to give me a bonnie in pieces.

Keep the rattle can. Looks meaner

Had the Toyota dealer go through the HJ for the NH inspection. After two hours on the lift ....
1. front left wheel bearing loose
2. right rear axle seal leaking
3. right rear brake shoes contaminated from #2
4. something in steering needs replacement to tighten it up

Service guy said he would call me in an hour, and now has been two days. He said the parts guy understood it was RHD and from Australia, so we'll see.

Went to the dealership once for the 55 I had. never, ever again. They passed everything but one headlight. Fixed that and brought it back an hour later, They then did the entire inspection again and for 3 other things that were nit picking. Spoke to the manager that originally did the first inspection as to why he didn't tell me to fix those things the first time around. He relied, "Oh well." After I verbally shredded them for wasting an entire afternoon I left, went to a gas station down the street, and got a sticker without even pulling it into their garage.

Dealerships are only good for free doughnuts in the waiting room.

Yeah, I figured I could go to a 'less thorough' shop, but I wanted the truck to get a good going over. The inspection still costs the same no matter what they find and it is my way of having a professional assess its condition. I may still fix 1, 2, & 3 myself to save money since I know how to do that stuff, but just driving it everyday, I never would have known there was an issue. I think the truck is perfect. The owner of the dealership also has his own red 40 in the service bay, and I know he previously had sold another 40 to a customer, so I didn't have a problem with them looking at the truck.

The FJC just had the windshield replaced. so there shouldn't be any issues with that one.

I had the 40 inspected yesterday at a little shop in Keene.
They were pretty impressed with it and it took me 20 minutes
to get out of there after answering all their questions.
