About 2 and half years ago (give or take), my 17 year old daughter totaled my Gen 1 Sequoia that was my company truck. My 95 cruiser was pulled into duty as my daily driver, making deliveries and pulling trailers. The box trailer I pull often was too much for it, too slow on the highway, had me worried. I found a new Gen 2 Sequoia for e 5.7L after about a month and was able to pull the Cruiser off of duty. About 3 days later my wife said the cruiser stalled. That's weird. I got home and checked it out and found white smoke pouring out of the exhaust. Well... Crap. Blown head gasket, but no overheating. Did my research, I parked it, changed the oil, and it sat for 2 years.
7 months ago, I finally bought all of the parts for the HG and upper end job, and tore it down, sent the head to the machine shop to get checked, decked, valve job, etc. I finally got the time to get back into it about 3 weeks ago. Plan was to finish it this weekend. I've been going by OTTRAM's incredible videos, as well as the FSM for the journey.
I repaired bad plugs in the wiring harness last weekend... Today was installing the upper intake, exhaust, TB, basically finish up stuff. The the fateful words in OTTRAM video #4 "Oh, don't forgot to connect the throttle body water hose to the block." Easy when it's out out of the truck, but buried and a bugger when it's in the truck, right above the rear knock sensor.
I unpluged the knock sensor connector and worked to get the hose attached and hose clamp secured. In my no-look reaching and struggling from under the truck , I heard something plastic hit the concrete. I looked over and saw the knock sensor connector plug on the ground next to my head. Crap. Queue rage induced nausea...
NOW, figuring out if I can get a pigtail on the plug to fix it, or if I tear off the upper intake again to get to the wiring harness to repair... I guess it will come down to whether or not I can deconstruct the plug today without destroying it. Several of the fuel injector plugs got destroyed trying to reclaim them and I replace them with new OEM.
