As some of you already know, my job at Sprint was eliminated earlier this year. Since then I have been unsuccessful at finding any suitable work here in the KC area, so I have accepted a 6 month contract position with Fujitsu in the Dallas area starting Aug 4.
I have really mixed feelings about the change. The positive side is that I will be doing the kind of engineering work that I enjoy the most (designing wireless systems).
The biggest negative is leaving all my friends and fellow wheelers in TAC.
I will be renting an apartment in Dallas for the duration of the contract. I'm planning on leaving the 80 and the mini in KC for now. However, we are putting the house on the market, so when the house sells, I'll have to find someplace for 'em. Given the current state of the housing market, I probably won't have to worry about that for a while, tho...
I expect that I'll be a web wheeler for the rest of this year, but if I can get some time off, I'm going to try to make Flat Nasty. Have to see how things go.
Anyway, I just want to say that I am so proud to have been around this great group of folks for the past 7 years or so. I can't recall ever being in any organization that seems to run as smoothly and with none of the politics or drama that seem to work their way into many groups like this. Everyone in TAC should be proud of this organization and what has been achieved.
Take care,
Bob
