23.7 mpg 60-65 mph Folsom CA to King City CA flat and slow
16.3 mpg 60-65 mph King cityCA to Pismo and back flat and slow and abused on the beach
?? misplaced ?? King city to Folsom CA flat and slow
16.8 mpg 70-85 mph Folsom to Battle Mountain NV some good long hills
16.9 mpg 70-85 mph Battle mountain to Jerome ID flat with a few long hills
13.2 mpg 70-85 mph Jerome ID to Idaho Falls flat with strong head wind
16.7 mpg 70-85 mpg Idaho Falls to Boulder MT long gentle and steep hills

i used 2 X 20 lbs tanks of propane from Calgary to Fremont CA. one tank was not fresh when we departed from Calgary. there is still Propane in the 2 tanks from the return trip. the truck ran with out a hitch even though pushed quite hard during the test. trying the truck with out the PI and it felt sluggish once the PI was turned back on it was a pleasure to drive.

in the entire trip i used 2 litres of oil.

i hope this helps anyone that is curious about the advantage of PI. considering the speed we were driving and the size of the tires the fuel milage return was impressive. the propane added about 3 mpg but more important than that the driving experience was comfortable.

if anyone is interested they can contact me direct and i will supply any answers that i can.

cheers

That HZJ75 pulls better than an intercooled 5 speed HDJ80 I have to add. Did you ever weigh it, Wayne?

Thanks for the info, Wayne...interesting. Any brilliant ideas on where to store two 20lb propane bottles in a BJ74 without it looking like a Getaway Van? Cheers.

i am getting a bottle built that fits underneather the body on a BJ74 and HJ61.
this will be a 30 lb and will have a custom skid plate also designed for these units. these will mount beside the driveshaft and attach to the frame for strength and peace of mind.
of course they will have a remote fill...
cheers

nice, whats the setup? custome? kit? how much does it cost if you don't mind me asking?
it is a setup specially dialed in for the cruisers. the boost comes on where WE need it. also the propane in injected at a variable rate so the power comes on smooth and does not suddenly load the engine.
the kit is $649 american and the bottles or tank is extra.
to be completely honest i would not do this for the sake of gaining a couple miles to the gallon but when you couple that with the performance and egt drop then it makes great sense.
i will be installing these setups on all the LJ71s that i have coming in. this will give the little 2LT the power increase that is needed. they really are a great little truck but deffinately not the greatest power house on the planet. once i can get the horsepower up over 100 and at the same time keep it reliable then we have a win/win situation.

Well, it all depends on when ole Rob can get me my 60 back!

HA!

In the next month or so Id guess.

Is there any point in your opinion to PI a NON turbo'd vehicle?

I dont have a turbo yet.

waste of time and money, this setup only works off boost presure. once it is turbo'd then you can be up and running strong.
get Rob to ship the truck here after he is finished and i can custom install the turbo and PI and you can fly in and speed home...
;^)
cheers
