We are having a small problem with this fine toy.

DAFFY at the river on the way back just before he got married to a ROCK and I had to reverse in to rescue him.

I recently drove it for a couple of days after we had the radiator removed and flushed out after the above trip.

It is very rev related to the temp gauge. Doing anything more than say 85k in 5th gear with the 35'' sneakers on will and does cause the temp to start rising. If going up a hill even a long slow one or a short one of say 200 meters and 5deg slope will after a while the temp rises and soon as you put your foot down even for the last 50 meters the temp rises. We knwo the RAD is clean. We know the thermo is working. We are not running an intercooler. In the rain it is fine which implies it is directly related to atmospheric conditions e.g. hot days.

We are looking at a new RADIATOR with a another core in it and wide fins and more capacity. We are also toying with going electic fans (2) .

Before we go down the path of a custom radiator and maybe a small intercooler is there any other ideas for the overheating issue?

regards

Did you acually remove the top tank and clean the inside of the cores with a cleaning rod ? This makes a huge difference.

have you done a coolant pressure test?
have you checked the viscus coupling for proper tension?
have you checked for trapped air in the system?

thanks I did not observe the fluid being drained so I may go do this saturday and observe how much is drained out and we measure exactly how much goes in and compare to specs.

The core I will inspect also.

I will also remove the thermostat and check myself and maybe drop a new one in.

I will also check if the used the bleed valve in the block to see if there is a bubbble/airlock somewhere.

The fan we have checked its ok.
