Looking for a few facts on the weather up towards Tellico in late December. Since I've met a few of ya'all at the annual pre-GSMTR meetings at Jim Harongody's I figured I could post here for some fresh harassment. Plus I am the winner of the 2004 Upstate Cruisers Pool Tournament :flipoff2:

My girlfriend and I are planning on driving up to her Mom's cabin in Helen NC (midway between Pumpkintown and Murphy) the week before Christmas and are debating on bringing up the 40 to take for a day or two over to Tellico. She's actually kool with the idea of wheeling, but I hate the cold :flipoff2: Anybody got any input as to what it'll be like up there that week (keep the crystal ball comments to yourself) - anybody plan on wheeling up there?

Leaning towards starting my SO this weekend and just leaving the 40 home and doing the site seeing in the area.... Did I mention I hate the cold.

Any advise would be warmly appreciated. :D

This must be Bill. Glad to hear from you. Hope all is good in Florida. Talked to a native of the area this week and invited him to join us in January for MLK weekend in Tellico. He says it can freeze off small body parts! I believe him but am going anyway. I want to see the place when its not hot and humid. I wish you could come as well. If you are near my place when you make your trip you are always welcome.

The upside:

You don't have to listen to the bears coming through camp!! :D

December in the NC mountains = damn cold and the humidity and wind will bite into you hard.

I hear there's a great ground swell in the Tellico River if a front comes through. Be sure to bring your surf boards and wetsuit you wimp.:flipoff2: :princess: I hear real surfers ride it in a beer cooler........

I froze two of my smaller body parts off in October up there once. Like VT said, bring some good liquor.

BTW, your heavy-duty tie-rods and ends are still in my shop, in case you can't find them.

Wild Bill!

Good to hear from you! Tellico is COLD this time of year.
Why don't ya'll site see down Pumpkintown way and we'll do Sushi right!
Our guest room...a.k.a. Barry's Bedroom is available for sleepovers.
I don't think Barry would mind. Hehe...I'll even remove his dolls from the bed for you.
If you pass this way and don't say "Hi", Momma Lynn will be pissed!

Pumpkintown

Dave, Lynn, Alan: We are definitely planning on heading down your way. Planning on driving down from NC to see Caesers Head SP, the waterfall backside of roadkill grill, etc.. Will try and set a date/time for sushi. Laura is vegetarian but I think they'd have enough on the menu (I really dig that restaurant). As always I'd love to stop in and see what Alan's latest project is. Will be leaving here on Sat. 12/17 getting in late that night. More later as our plans get more finalized. Thanks for the room offer - sans the dolls :D

Liquid assets - goes without saying :D

Jim - I'll be by this weekend or so to pick up my tie rods and ends. Going to swap springs out with Eric before or after Christmas, depending on if I take 40 up or not, and get the springover done in January. Totally stoked - high steer, SO, and finally the rock ram. Then I'm done for a while AND no pre GMSTR rush. :flipoff2:

What exactly is it - I went to the thread on it and wasn't clear on what it was???

This man has a way with words!:flipoff2: We will be listening for you Bill. I have been working on the trail truck and have a few changes I want to discuss with you. Barry doesn't really play with dolls only herricanes!:grinpimp:

Right now in Franklin, NC. (Not far from Tellico) we're having cool mornings,(20's) and mild afternoons. Usually in the mid 40's to mid 50's. That's not to cold for you is it? Sure is a lot better than those FL afternoon 80's and 90's.

Isn't that the warm part of the state :D - I mean I remember freezing my arse off in 2003 when I broke a pinion on Upper 2 and there was a breeze of kool air coming over the ridge - that was May. Yes, I am a whining sonofabitch when it comes to the kold.
