Call in done. I spoke to the guy. He remembers the guy with the
Canadian wife. ;) We are reserved for May 14th to the 19th.(Mon-Sat)
$400...special deal...with $20 for each guest, each night, over
two. I can confirm with his wife(who keeps the books) tonight.
Let's start a head count on who is going for what dates.
I'm in for the full stay this year. Bringing Gundy too.
I figure we'll divide the $400 by the number of attendees
and add the $20 per night to get costs per member.
So...say we have 10. That would make my costs for
6 days: $40 plus $120 for a grand total of $160 for
the week. Cheap!
LOL..if it's just me ....it'll be $400. Still cheap for a week's
getaway. :grinpimp:
So, maties.....sound off so we can start the process.
GSMTR.......will it ever get here?

I have stayed there before...can sleep up to 18 people if you need to, lots of public sleeping space, runs on generator, has water, etc.

Don't turn on the heater in the bathroom while you shower...the water pump and the heater draw too much and you will soon be standing soapy, cold, and wet in the dark...ask me how I know :)

If someone has a bigger generator that they could haul in it would be worth the effort if they were trailering. Never threw a breaker in the house, just popped the breaker on the generator that is there.

David. I had it on my cell - but can't find it.

When you find it - remind the owner that he owes Jim, Mike, Todd, Alan H, and myself a deal as he messed up with renting it to us last year. We met him at a gas station just outside Murphy and we had a handshake on rental - seems he forgot he'd already rented it :frown:. Said he would make it up to us.

I think his wife was Canadian - like Jim's - I'm sure he'll remember... Ask Jim or Alan direct - they may remember.

If this goes thru - put me down for a nice bed. Otherwise, I'm camping on the river :D.

one of these? those with lousy memory take pictures

I am in for the 14th to the 19th for now. Only way it would change would be if I switched weeks with my kids for some reason...no kids at GSMTR for me!

Way to go David!!! Count me in for the full ride. I might go down on the river a few nights - but will keep all my stuff on the bed. My son may be coming this year again - he's licensed now, Eeeeeeeep!!!!!!!!! I'll update when I get his next report card - which will be a make or break on whether he gets to go.

I can't come for the week, no vacation available. I'm already having to cancel planned stuff because I had to spend a week during Christmas for business overseas. Hate it. The other two weeks are dedicated to Dalmatia this summer.

So I'll probably come up Fri night or Sat early like all the other times. I'll sleep where I'm told or in the truck. I'm up for suggestions.

that house has lots of beds. If I remember correctly:

2 bedrooms on main floor, 2 bunks per room.
1 loft with 2 king, 4 twin sized beds/couches
1 living room with 3 couches

There is also an unfinished basement with a fireplace and space heater in a pinch for more room and "roughing it" sleeping.

One bathroom for the whole place, nice kitchen, and a funky ammonia fridge :)

No TV, so if you want to watch something bring it with you, DVD, TV, etc. There was a dish out back last time I was there, but it was all disconnected.

SWEET waterfall in the backyard, and only 300 yards from Trail 1 pay station.

Confirmed!!!!!!!

It's a done deal. Early birds get choice of sleeping quarters.
Thanks to Dan's excellent scouting report we should
prepare accordingly. Spare generator sounds nice and
perhaps a TV and DVD/VCR player would help. Firewood
sounds like a good idea too. Any volunteers for these supplies?

Now we're talkin'

I'm in for the whole ride.

Atta Boy! Be sure and inform Mike when he checks in.
Maybe you can drag Brother Barry up this year.
Man, it'll be a fun crowd with our Fla chapter so well represented.
Wild Bill will be somewhat disappointed with the lack of pool table. ;)
PARTY HARDY!   :flamingo: WHEEL HARDER

Better put me down for a room - aren't the bunks doubles? I was thinking that Bran may need to get sleep at a reasonable hour - but heck, he'll probably stay up and party later than me. That and I'm running a few night runs this year :D.

Yeah - lack of a pool table is a problem - nothing a mason jar can't cure.

Yeah, that's the house we almost had. I think we spent a few nice hours there in the dark last GSMTR...before the owners realized they had already rented it. What a long night that turned into...topped off with Mike realizing the spare tires for his trailer were the wrong bolt pattern! The first of many 2006 GSMTR stories. Anyway, I'll committ to the full week. David, if I did the math right, that works out to $46.78 for me and that puts me in the loft with both king beds. Right? I'm doing my best to get the financials together to get my truck up there this year. I'll reserve and pay either way though. I also have a 5.5kw generator (with an 8.5kw peak) down here if we think we really need it. I think the FL guys could probably light up Tellico Plains if we had to with our generators. Mike M is in the islands with the boats. I put a call in to let me or his wife (make what you want out of that Bill) know about the cabin. I'm sure I'll hear from one of them in the next few days. I would pencil him in for the cabin since everyone else will be staying there.

Sorry for the noob question, but...what is the GSMTR event and where is it located? Tellico, right? I would like to get a chance to make a Tellico run with everyone and May would be a great time to be in the mountains.

It's mostly an event where a bunch of guys with Land Cruisers and Toyota trucks get together and play pool with peoples artificial limbs and then pass out in hot tubs. Well worth it if you're into the trucks too. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
