Next tech question. I need a Load Range E or 10-ply tire. Would a Load Index 120 be just as good?
because they the tire mfg`s don`t really make tires by ply anymore
doubt U can find a real 10 ply tir it goes by load capacity at full recommended psi sooo
a`120 load index has a load cap of 3087 lb at max cap psi. single wheel
dual will b slightly different read the side wall it will state it

Well until that headgasket is changed, you really don't have a reliable truck. I know the feeling because I have one. Constantly having the thought in the back of your mind is not the "Oh What A Feeling!" I really wanted or anyone who bought these defected trucks when new. Pretty sad on Toyota's part. I am few hundred miles from home right now. If my 80 makes it home, it will probably never travel farther than 10 miles one way ever again with me behind the wheel. It makes me nervous and I don't want to change the headgasket even as preventive measure.
haha i understand, i had that feeling for a little while after i changed mine on my 3.0. but after a little break in period, and then dogging it a little, then taking it to SI. I am feeling a lot better about it. Also, Felpro makes some pretty good aftermarket gaskets and make upgrades to the problem areas.
Question for the IFS guys. From the Differential to the spot where the CV shaft attaches, how far is it (short side of the housing)? also is the housing cast or is it steel like on the Solid axle?

I was playing around in snow today in the Avalanche. In 4lo it seems to do good but I noticed it surges hard when it auto shifts into 2nd. Seems like there is no way to prevent this surge.
Do you guys with auto have this same issue? I guess I'm just not used to it with my manual.

Feels like the front end almost lifts. Haha. I guess it would be the same in the yota if I didn't drop rpms between gears.
My 02 Z71 auto 4L would shift kind of hard as well.
Yeah, this is also an 02 Z71 trim. I'm sure it's common. I was just trying to carry unstable equipment on the tailgate and drive nice and easy through the snow. Every time it hit 2nd, I had some pucker factor thinking I was going to loose the load.
I was taking it from behind a house around to the front to transfer to a van. I had to make multiple trips. We thought the van would get stuck back there.

Hey, if this trip to GA in the RV goes well. I might be bringing the clan to HS in feb. One can only hope. Will be the first time doing one location twice consecutively.
Hoping it goes well. I have invested a lot of money in the thing. I even put new tires on it. Hope it hangs on for awhile.
Biggest issues that have to be fixed this weekend are replaced 2 broken lug studs, fixing fender damage from blown tire, and fixing wiper linkage.
7 16.5" tires are expensive.

most likley prob with wipers are the arm sockets should b able to get from dealer still replace em anyway have a real bad habit of breaking when ya need them most

Already replaced all of them (Wiper Arm Linkage Bushing by Dorman @ O'Reilly). PITA to get on and I think I might have not got the driver's side set right. Passenger is still working. The plastic bushing probably weren't too pliable in the 10*F weather I was working in.
Good idea, might try it tomorrow. I have a lot to do, but fixing the wipers is near the top of the list (right after lug studs which O'Reilly told me they ordered and didn't).
