So if I read this correctly you think should have an interior cage as well as exo skeleton on off road vehicles ?

I think one is plenty and just as good as the other if its built right IMO. Like in Jon's case that Exo is all he really needs. The benefit of the Exo is it does protect some of the sheet metal too where its not fence tubing

Is there a story behind this pic Larry?

I read where he lost a bolt out of one of the control arms at 70mph. He walked away ok.

yeaa i know that exo might be good but i didnt build it and i dont know how good it would be on a hard roll i like to have that added protection idk just me , and it be better to mount my 5 paint harnsses too , ,, me and ryan talked a bout the frame and we gonn reinforce it when i get back clean it up with a brush wheel and cut some like 1/8 plate with the plasma and weld it . think that shold hold it for a good wile , what ya tink about dat?

I am no expert but wouldn't bolting on plates be a stronger fix? I have always heard that welding on a frame weakens it. Again, I am no expert.

yea i herd the same thing about bolting it but the way i look at the factory welds all kinda things to the frame , and for what im doing not on the road and not over 30 mph i thing it shod be good , i think drilling holes and lining up the plates woukd be a little pain,

whats the big diff between a like 84 steering box and a ifs steering box i see thay see them as a up grade ,? and also i read all kinda stuff on pirate and here saying that sence i have gm axels and brakes that i shold have a gm master cylinder and the kit for it with only runs like 125 from sky , any body think its worth the money to do this and would it really help ,, id rather spend the money on the all pro tcase ebrake , sence thats one item im lacking

do da E brake:cheers:

I would do the T-case e brake.

If the frame rust is to bad I would think bolts would have nothing to surport anyway.

Haha , rust is not that badd just like 4 inh hole mike knocked all the crap away i guess im gonna order the allpro e brake kit , and will im playing with the tcase ill drop in the marling 4.7 gears in the tcase that way it be lowwwerr

Tested out my 4.7 single case in GSMTR and liked the low range very much.

ohh so john u dont have the front dbler ? i thought u had that too , i have the front dbler im shure it just has the 2.28 in it so i cant wait to see the diff with the 4,70 in da back ,

This may be a stupid question but here goes. The front hubs are leaking fluid into the rims. I assume it is gear oil. When I removed one of the hubs, it looked like there was the remnants of a gasket that disintegrated when I removed it. The question is: Is there a specific gasket that goes there that can be had at NAPA (or the like) or can I just use some gasket maker? Also, there are bearings in there, correct? How can you tell if they are good, bad or otherwise?

Here is what I see when I remove the hub:

Here is what the remnants of the gasket look like:

Thanks,

if you are sure it is rear oil----then you have inner axe seals that are leaking axle/third member oil into your wheel bearing area.

time to get hub kits solvents drain pan and NOW U can really put those purple gloves to use :)
oh! and plan the whole day& no:beer: till U are done:wrench:
if just old grease just remove hub clean repack replace inner hub seals & the outer gasket the one U show in the pic.
