Albert got an Ram 2500 mid summer and I know he has felt the power.:grinpimp:

Yep Getting almost the same fuel mileage in the Ram 2500 diesel empty, day to day back and forth to work 17.5
mpg average as I was in the gas GMC with the V8 4.7L 19.0 mpg average engine....BUT there is no comparison the amount of power ,torque and speed this truck has against what I was driving.

Pulling a trailer the truck with A/C on and cruise control set Broussard to HotSprings NEVER down shifted once on the overpasses! :steer: passing people in the left lane going uphill with trailer in tow with the 2500 is priceless

Josh if you have the 06 I think you will have an emissions free engine compared to my truck with the DPF, EGR and what not.

It is more expensive to maintain(oil changes, etc.) but I feel it is a trade off for what the truck can do and the mileage to be expected from the engine with out major repair 500,000miles.

Hay mon i think you have a flat on there trailer:lol:

Yep I am emmisions free :D... your still getting better mileage than me though. wierd.

I only did a partial tank in the little bit of time I had it before it went to the shop but all I was getting was like 15 1/2 or so. I was expecting from all the stories I have heard to get about that towing :)

Like you said though not loosing much compaired to the ford I traded. went from 17ish to 15ish. I am hopeing the new torque converter brings my milage up, if the old one was real loose it might have been hurting my mileage. maybe??

you were running your truck in tow/haul or OD off?

Got a hole in my incoming rubber section of fuel line near the intake. Would a barb fitting and hose clamps hold up to the pressure from the fuel pump?

john, if memory serves me right, when i worked at orilies we had "injection hose" in the back, was a little stiffer and about twice the price as normal hose..

then i re-read the question and see you are just splicing.

I would say yes a Barb and clamps would do the trick. I would do it on my truck atleast.

your system runs at 35-41 psi soooo as long as the hose has a working psi above that & you use the HP clamps no prob:D

More a legal question than a tech one but: How much trouble and how much time does a truck have to spend in a shop before you can get a dealer to buy a truck back from you?

Drove the dodge 3 days while I was home and the big white bastard is back in the shop again. Spent 2 days at the trans shop before they threw up their hands and said they dont know, now it is at Nu-Tek in Abbeville looking for a posible wireing problem.

throws engine code p0748 and goes directly to 3rd gear with no lockup. clear the code and the trans starts in 1st gear but will not shift... untill the engine light comes on that is and then it goes right back to third gear. Talked with the shop manager and he said he personaly nspected the valve body and other crap in the trans and that everythign on the transmission is in working order, that it is somethign on the truck screwing everythign up.

Honestly though even if they fix it I dont know that I trust it much if you know what I mean.

#1 TCM not too likley

#2 linear solenoid electrical failure ??

#3 wiring short or open most likley ---- prod done on the R&R of trans converter.

Honestly though even if they fix it I dont know that I trust it much if you know what I mean.all things made by man can turn to s*** that is why I will always have work:grinpimp:

My sister in law had a Isuzu go through 2 transmissions in 2 months, new from the dealer. She was told after 3 problems like that, they have to take it back as a lemon. This was about 5 years ago. That same Isuzu is sitting in her driveway with a broken transmission(it broke last year). I hope everything works out for you, I know it has to be very frustrating.

If it makes you feel any better, I had a 3rd member completely rebuilt and noticed the gasket hanging out of it yesterday and fluid everywhere. They will not fix it for free and it is very $$$$$$$$$$.

1: dont know if they have checked the computer yet

2: both the Solinoid and the Transducer have been changed. I have both parts in the saddle bag of the V-Strom.

3: thats what they think as well, and my thoughts on the cause as well (good luck getting anyone to come out and say "you know what, my bad we will take care of that"). Seems like if they had mashed a wire hard enough to break the wire it would be noticeable like the insulation would be damaged as well. I just hope that it is fixed quick so I can get on to doing what ever it is I decide to do with it.

I noticed it was leaking and checked the fluid level. Black oil pored out of it, over filled and mixed fluid and grease. I just has the whole axle redone and installed a new set of longfields and chromemoly inner axles as well. So it looks like lots of fun in the near future. I will have to tear everything apart. Time to break out the FSM and learn how to do it myself.:wrench:

This is not really a question but more of a solution. I was cleaning out my garage last weekend for a garage sale (yes I had a garage sale last weekend on the most miserable day of the year) and I came across a hose that I had in my Toyota parts stash. I am pretty sure it came from a safari snorkel(80 series) that I never installed. Anyway I cut the screw in side of the hose and it fit perfect on my FJ-40. I have used other silicone hoses in the past and they just didn't look or fit right. They don't sell the factory ones anymore and this one fits like a glove and doesn't come off. So if you have a Safari hose laying around or can just order a replacement hose...........it works great!
