Hey guys, I am home now and have a few days off. I'm going to change out the fluids on the LX and my wife's Acura MDX. I think I saw some assortment packs of crush washers at Pepboys. Will those work as well as factory washers? I'd rather avoid a trip to Musson, as well as the time it will take to look up the part numbers for the washers for each different drain / fill plug.

I almost always use OEM for everything but I have used POS crush washers from the likes of Pepboys with no problems. I like the old school leather ones for the oil pan.:D I may get :deadhorse: for this post but it would not be the first time.

I went ahead and got the toyota washers from Hampton, $1.50 a piece, and ordered some for the diffs, $1.10 a piece. I got a couple of OEM filters too, $5 a piece. The Toyota ATF fluid was over $6 a quart, so I passed, as well as the Red coolant, $21 a gallon. I'll go another route on that stuff.

I went to Wal-Mart and got 10W30 Mobil 1 15,000 mile oil. I had read a review of this by Landtank on mud, where he posted his Blackstone oil report. It should have no problems lasting 1 yr between oil changes. $26 for a 5 qt jug at wallyworld. The Shell Rotella T synthetic was $19/gal and the Mobil 1 synthetics were all $22/gal.

i did the castrol synthetic whei got the fj and it made a diff in fuel milage and i just changed it with10k on it , and it was still half clean i use castrol cuz i had good luck with the oil wihen i was on a race team oil plug fell out of bike and lasted 4 laps finished and noticed bike didnt have oil when we got back to pits ! put new oil and raced second moto!

NOW THAT'S THINKIN' WITH YER DIPSTICK, JIMMY!

I use that Mobil 1 Synthetic fuel economy stuff and I run it hard and long and it's still pretty when I change it at about 8k.

got to look and play with the new truggy , to day in the ditches buy the house notice some stuff the guy never said , #1 front axel on pass side is llike2 inches further back like it slid on spring , tie rod bent but will make a new one and sliders are made out of thin pipe looks like from lows ,,,, runs great oil looks clean , not use to the noise from the drive shafts when i put it in a bind lol use that the fj and i locked the hubs geezzz i forgot what it was like to have reall lockers nooo turnnn! but just need some tlc and it be all good! wann paint it what yall think about army green? rather than orange

Haha, like i wanted to do with the runner. OD green with a white star on the doors.

haha, sounds great!

put a disc brake on your driveshaft

I believe so. Haven't done one but a buddy had that setup on his sammy. A disc right off of the t-case.

What I like and will do to my 40 is a line lock. I helped Larry install it on his 40 before we went to SCC two years ago. It's easy and not to pricey. And it works great. All you do is tap into your brake line and install a small shutoff valve. When you press the brake you close the valve and your brakes stay locked in. to release just open the valve. easy cheesy
