Coles Creek right? I am going to try to make it to that one if I am on land. That comes right at the end of my next hitch. I just got the rear axle on my yota back together and need to see if it runs smooth or not. If all goes well, I will be there.

Forget shortening up the rear! You already have a pretty short wheelbase.....do rear steer instead and be different!

drive shafts??

ok i had j@*ps and always had run round normal drive shafts . only latley i have been seeing pepeol make the squar drive shafts on stuff , just wondering why ? this truggy im got has the square shafts on it and was told u cant drive fast with them y not just put normal H/d shafts?? just wondering are is it just a $$ thing ? and also does any one know what would the low range be on the yota with dual t case set up ? i seen vids and its LOW ! and SLOW! but i was wondering around what it is is it lower than 4 ;1 they guy told me i have 15 gears to choose from , with on the trails , input please ?

cant wait to get this thing gota get a name for it lol
i call my fj THE blue J its home is the trees lol

Square drive shafts are stronger because they have straight angles that are hard to bend. They also allow for a longer extension and compression. They aren't good for high speeds because they are impossible to balance.

Let me know the ratios of your front and rear t-case along with your diff ratio and I will be able to tell you your crawl ratio. If you had say 2.8 t-case, 4.7 t-case and 4.88 in the diff you would have a 207:1 ratio on the w56 tranny. That's about 2mph at 5000rpm with 39 inch tires.

the dude said he think it was like 4.11 gears in the diff and i dont know what t case , butt geezzzz thats gona be crazy crawlin slow should have it soon! the truck picked up my bike this after noon at like 3 and they said they going drop bike and p/u truck soo hopeflly fri sat

You can tell your diff ratio by spinning the tires and watching the drive shaft. Lift the rear tires with the truck in neutral, spin the tire 10 complete revolutions, since you have lockers the driveshaft should turn about 41 times if you have a 4.11 ratio.

If your happy with the ratio and don't really need to know your crawl ratio, I guess there would be no reason to put the work into figuring it out except for bragging rights. If you do figure out all of your gearing, I have a nice little calculator that I made that can tell you final ratio, speed, enging rpm, and output torque.

I just created a simple little DOS program that calculates gear ratio and tells you your speed at 1k-5k rpm. If anyone wants it, send me a pm and I will email it to you.

I made one a while back in excel if you want to check it out. I was bored at work and wanted to mess around with gearing and doublers.

Gear calculator.xls - Windows Live

I linked to it on marlin, pirate and here. it aint much but it was the best I could manage in an afternoon. Wish I knew how to program one that would not require excel like in Java or flash or somethign along those lines.

My old one is pretty much the same except uglier because I only intended to use it myself. Basically the same info without the colors and explanation. I then took it and made it into a small program for ease of use and to make available for people without Excel. I did it for practice more than anything.

I used to be heading into the direction of being the world's greatest IT guy but I strayed into the electronics field for few years and now I am in oil well cementing. I want to use some of my IT knowledge on my days off to stay fresh because I hope to get back into it someday. Right now I am playing with C++, then maybe .NET or something like that. It keeps me from feeling like I am wasting my off days.

I see you have a Honda Shadow now. I'm still up for riding sometime if you want. A co-worker just bought an '07 VTX1300 and we'll probably be riding through your area sometime as we plan on hitting some of the scenic rural areas of southern LA.

Sure, just got to figure out when I will be off and my gf will be working :D she does not mind little short rides but she does not like going too far.

I planned on doing something last weekend but my buddy ended up going to Fourchon and I ended up with an ulcer in my right eye.

I think he is asking where a ventline (if there is one) would be located to releave the vaccume caused by fuel being sucked out of his tank by the fuel pump.

On a truck without all the emisions [STRIKE]****[/STRIKE] controls wouldnt it just be a vented gas cap?
